The other day I shared with y’all the process we went through to select the color we wanted our porch to be from the Daich Coatings samples we received. If you didn’t get a chance to read that post you can do that here. Today I am going to share with you the process we went through to get the new porch, and the final results along with a giveaway. So buckle up people it’s going to get fun!

Daich Coatings sent us the RollerRock Lava Rock Rollable Stone Coating. This is like a water based paint only thicker. It acts very much like paint, but make sure you read all of your instructions before spreading. There are things like weather and of course water that you need to be aware of.

We also received two Stone Texture Rollers so help make everything spread easily and look right. I had actually went out and purchased some but the ones they sent are the ones we used. I wasn’t sure if we would get any which is why I purchased some. No worries though those will not go to waste.

Finally there was the Hi-Build Ultra Sealer. This stuff you really need to read your instructions on. There was a notice on ours about not allowing it to freeze. Which I am thankful for because the day we received everything the temperature dropped down.

Our back porch looked so bad. Like I said the other day is was just in need of refinishing from years of use. Wear and tear will do that and it needed a little bit of help. Plus all of the crap we managed to pile on it.

We had a lot of prepping to do on the porch. There was some places that needed to be filled in. It also rained, the weather turned. We ended up covering the bottom half around to keep the water out. Then I actually took my hair dryer out there to dry any place that was still wet. It spent a good hour hour their with the hair dryer and hope I have one under the tree.

pAINTING

The RollerRock is super thick.You have to mix it well before you begin. I did attempt to roll some on but I just didn’t have the strength in my arms. I barely moved it around. Don’t assume that since this is like paint it will go on in the same thin layer. It goes on much thicker and needs a little more elbow behind it. Not that it isn’t as easy as paint. We did this whole porch in a three day weekend.

Everything went on well and then after we applied two coats, we let it all dry overnight. The next morning we applied the sealer. Then we left that dry for about a day and a half before we walked out there or anything.

I could not be happier with the ways things turned out. We have a couple of spots that are lighter and I think those spots honestly should have been cemented again. We probably should have had a whole new porch poured. I looked at the cost of that and it was so much. Daich Coatings allowed us to have a porch we can be proud of without the cost.

I could kiss the wonderful people over at Daich Coatings. My porch looks a million times better. It has really helped bring the whole outside together. Now, when the weather gets warm again, we will love using the porch more than ever.
