“Pile it on until there’s a …Meltdown!” I love that about this game. It sounds ominous like you don’t know what is going to happen. This game is one about steady hands and a whole lot of balancing.
PlayMonster brings us Meltdown and it require two or more players. It is for ages seven and older. Although I will tell you that slightly younger kids may enjoy it as well. I certainly wouldn’t allow one younger than five. There is a die and goop that smaller children may put in their mouths. I suggest playing this at a table or somewhere sturdy.
You put the goop any way you want it on top of the tower. Then you put the balancing platform on there. Next comes stacking the cubes. The cubes are divided up equally between players. The goal is to get rid of all of your cubes. Each player takes turns stacking the cubes, but if you cause a meltdown and cubes fall then you have to take those cubes as your own. With the goop and the slippery platform it is not as easy as it sounds.
Like I said slightly younger than age seven could play this. I actually used it with the twins in their counting. They have to count the number of cubes they start with and then the number they end with. Of course the winner has zero but it’s fun for them and helps them. They actually count every time they put a block on and it seems to help them with their counting a lot.
