I don’t know about y’all but I am a whiskey girl myself. I don’t drink it often and I was excited to give Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey a try. I haven’t had Irish whiskey before, at least not that I can reember so I knew this would be a new experience for me.
Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey pays homage to it’s founder Conor McGregor, and his neighborhood of Crumlin, Dublin 12. Can I just say that I love that? It is distilled and bottled in Ireland which is something else I love. This isn’t a company pretending to make Irish whiskey, they are making Irish whiskey in Ireland.
Okay, I didn’t drink this big full glass. I typically drink about half that when I have a glass. I poured one this big for the pictures and then my best friend and I split it so we could both give it a taste test. Whiskey is strong and Irish whiskey is pretty strong but not in way I expected. It is a blend of fine and single grain malt with a hint of vanilla, honey, and toasted wood.
Those combined give it a smoothness that I enjoyed. Just look at the amazing color of it in that glass. This is not a dark whiskey, you can almost see right through it. I don’t know if that is one the reasons I enjoy it or not but it is certainly one of the better drinks I have tried this year.
Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey is one smooth whiskey. It will not be something that I drink every day but certainly one that I will indulge in from time to time. If you are wanting to try whiskey then I highly recommend starting with this one. It is far better than any of the cheap stuff.
