The winter is here, and everyone is barricading is the doors in anticipation of The Big Freeze. Most of us tend to stay at home and wait until the weather gets warmer until we come out of hibernation, but there is another way. Instead of sitting at home freezing to death, we can emigrate somewhere hot for the winter. Okay, maybe emigrate is over the top, but there is nothing wrong with taking a break as long as you can afford the money and the time off.
To make it more affordable, here are some tips that I love. They save you a fortune on your vacation and make winter holidays realistic instead of a pipedream.
Book Early
Even though it may not be your favorite time of year to go on vacation, lots of people do like to get away for Christmas. The Christmas holidays, as a result, are a very busy time of year. And, because the demand is so high, the price increases. If you are looking to get away anytime within the Christmas period, you are not going to be able to find a bargain unless you book early. By early I mean around September and October time. ou can get good deals on luxury villas like St Barts Villas too, if you book well in advance. Any later and you leave it all down to luck.
Pick Your Times Carefully
Just like some dates are more expensive, certain times are more expensive, too. It is like traveling on the freeway in rush hour traffic. Everyone wants to travel at that time and the airlines know it, so they bump the price up for the privilege. If you are willing to wait for a couple of hours, you can slash a lot of money off the overall price. Flying earlier or later is the best way to find cheap airline tickets for the whole family. Even the travel time affects the booking of hotels too, so to save on air tickets plus to get good deals on phnom penh hotels, plan your holidays well in advance.
Travel Light
Speaking of the whole family, who is going on this vacation? It is an important question to consider because traveling with a larger group is more expensive. There are a lot of pros of traveling with a group, but the price is not one of them! Unless we have the cash, we like to keep the group down to the bare minimum. That way, we are only paying for three or four of one thing instead of six or seven. Alternatively, invite whomever you like, but let them know that they will have to pay for their trip.
Look For Bargain Accommodation
Housetrip.com is a great tool if you are on the lookout for budget accommodation. Holidaymakers love to book hotels because that is the conventional way. The problem with the conventional way is that it is the most expensive way. You want something more off the beaten track, like a rented apartment. House Trip has thousands of apartments for rent from all around the globe, and they are up to fifty percent cheaper than hotels.
Explore On Your Own
Once you get there, I guess you will have a budget? Everyone likes to treat themselves on vacation, but you cannot go overboard. The best way is to treat yourself when possible but to stay away from tours and excursions. You can do it alone and save a ton of money.
If you are planning a winter break, I hope these tips can help you do it on a budget.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
