Store bought tortilla chips are good but nothing beats Homemade Tortilla Chips. Especially when they are warm and fresh from the oven.
Homemade Tortilla Chips Recipe
Ingredients:
- 8 corn tortillas (assuming they’re the small ones that have about a 6-inch diameter)
- ¼ cup olive oil (Corn oil works great, so does canola oil. This is an estimate, I think I had a little left over last)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt , for sprinkling (table salt works too but coarse kosher works far better. Sea salt is fab as well)
Directions:
- Cover a cookie sheet in foil, and with a pastry or BBQ brush, brush with olive or corn oil and a small sprinkling of kosher salt. (You have to do this or else it won’t come out right.).Preheat the oven to 400 degrees– make sure the oven rack is in the center.
- Cut each tortilla into 4 equal wedge pieces.
- Brush the pieces with olive/corn oil and lightly sprinkle with the kosher salt.
- Bake for 6-10 minutes until the edges curl, depending on oven strength. Higher altitudes may need to cook for 15 minutes or longer.
- Let cool for 2-3 minutes prior to eating.
This sounds good! I have tried this with flour tortillas and it comes out really nice too- plus they are alot less expensive than store bought!
Yum I’ll have to make some tomorrow rice and beans and nachos are on the menu!
I’ve never thought of making my own tortilla chips, but these sound simple enough to make the effort worth the reward. I will have to give these a try, thanks for the recipe.
Yum. So easy…an much cheaper.
Seems simple enough, even i a guy like me can try this for poker night tonight
Thanks for providing this recipe, i will make it some time when i have some guests. 🙂

I LOVE homemade chips. I never buy tortilla chips any more.

This sounds so easy.. I will definitely give this a try.. Thanks
Thanks for this. Will try it!
Sounds very good and easy. My family would rather have tortilla chips than taco shells for taco nights so I will be trying this next time.
great idea, i’m going to try this. thanks for the recipe
I’m going to give this a try. It looks like fun and there is nothing like hot, fresh chips.
yummi, I´m hungry now 😀
Super easy! Thanks for sharing =)
my family loves tortilla chips but the price of them is outrageous so it prevents us from being able to keep them in the house like we use to. I’m going to surprise the boys by making these this weekend..you know kids just love to dip.lol Thanks for sharing the recipe.
this sounds pretty easy, I’ve never tried to make any before, thanks for sharing
These sounds really good! What I especially like is that they’re home-made. I’ve really been trying to get away from buying so much processed food, with additives and things I can’t pronounce on the label. So I’ve been looking for more way to make things home-made, as it is so much better for me (and my loved ones). Thanks!
yum! I could go for some of these and some cheese dip right now lol. its great that these dont take anytime at all to cook. they would be perfect for a snack for my little one.
Hmm, I never thought about making my own chips- I eat so many tortilla chips I must try this! I have made my own tortillas, but never took it the extra step to make my own chips. I want to try this DIY recipe!
These sound and look great. Why have you not been sharing more of your recipes? You have so really good ones. We used to make these when I was a kid. I can’t wait to try your recipe.
