The Honeymoon From….Well You Know!

When we first got married we didn’t take our honeymoon right away. After all his ex-wife was here staying with us before she returned home to Mexico and things were difficult. We waited a couple of months and ended up going to stay in the mountains of North Georgia in a friend’s cabin. It was the first time we had ever been away together at all and I was so excited.

I should have known when we couldn’t take our honeymoon right away that things would not go well. It was the worst trip EVER! That great picture you see above of us is the only one we managed to take and that was the first evening we got there. It all went downhill fast. First this cabin which our friend told us was so great had an outhouse! That is right an OUTHOUSE! Granted it was a two seater but “oh my word!” Then while attempting to use the outhouse (my first time ever) I reached for the toilet paper and fell off resulting in a nasty cut and a trip down the mountain to the ER.

If that wasn’t enough hubby managed to get sick and spend the next three days hugging the trash can. He didn’t want to venture out to the outhouse and hug it for a while. Not that I blame him at all. Every time I went out there I had this “Oh my God something is going to bite me moment.” We got our actual honeymoon stuff after we had been there a week (good thing we were staying for two weeks!) The last week was cut short by me tripping over something on my way to (wait for it) the OUTHOUSE! We figured it was time to turn tail and head home.

I guess you could say that it was unforgettable! It is funny because while we have been away a lot over the years any time we ever went away alone together things never went well.
