One of the great things about writing a blog is that I get to share parts of myself with you all. However, as much as I do share that doesn’t mean that you all know me on a personal level. SO I thought today I would share five things about myself that you may or may not know.
- I was Born at Home
That’s right! I was not born in the hospital and not only was I born at home but my mother was actually sitting on the toilet when I was born. She had gone to the hospital and told that she had a kidney infection and to go home. Hours later her water broke and while she was cleaning herself up I made my appearance. I weighed only two pounds and was so small I had to wear a surgeon’s mask as a diaper for the first seven months of my life. They didn’t have preemie diapers when I was born. Also my dad had to drive the ambulance to the hospital because the driver fell off our porch and broke his leg.
- I’m Musical
Yep! I play the flute and piano both of which I picked up when I was younger. I learned the piano first and then the flute in middle school. I also sing and actually sang in the high school chorus with a rather famous country music star in high school. No, I will not name any names but he and I were friends and I will say that he’s a great guy.
- I have OCD
Like you would not believe! Mine is pretty compulsive and is part of the reason I am such an over achiever. Some of my compulsions include having to pull more than one paper towel off the roll at a time, having to either brush my teeth or rinse every single time I got into the bathroom, redoing something a million times until I feel it is perfect, and using enough toilet paper to probably keep Angel Soft in business.
- I’m a Daddy’s Girl
I know this is one that every girl can and probably do say. My daddy was my world and I thought he walked on water. He was and still is the man that I compare every single man I come in contact to. He worked hard, served our country, and took care of us. He taught us to never say we couldn’t do something and to never give up. Also to never settle for less than we truly deserve.
- I was a Military Brat
I was! I grew up in a family that was so military it wasn’t even funny. My daddy was in the Navy and then worked civil service for the Army. My grandfather was in the Army as was both his brother, sister, and father. I have two uncles who were in the Navy, a another in the Air Force, one in the Marines, and so on. I even have a distant relative who was one of the first astronauts. I grew up in a very different world than a lot of my friends but I wouldn’t trade a single moment of it.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Thanks for sharing your “5 facts,” Rita! Your birthday sounds like quite the event, and I hope you celebrate well every year. I can relate to your OCD, which runs in our family. It can make life difficult, for sure.

You are so welcome for the share. OCD is not fun! I have OCD but my sister has ADHD which I think may be worst.

I love this post!! You made sure to have a Grand entrance into this world for such a itty bitty thing(2 lbs -remarkable)‼️ And your Daddy driving to the hospital.
I also play the piano but no other instrument.
Thanks so much for sharing these 5 personal things. Can’t wait for the next post like this!!

I had to make my presence known because trust me as a middle child I got lost in the shuffle later. Music was always something I loved even as a baby. I have some other of these scheduled throughout the year already.
