I was watching a special recently about the man here in Georgia that left his baby in the car for seven hours. I am torn about whether he did it on purpose or forgot about the baby. There is an actual syndrome for that called Forgotten Baby Syndrome.
What left me torn about him was that he went back to his car during his lunch break. There is a video of him tossing something in his car and then walking away. Now I don’t know what time his lunch was but can you imagine the smell after a few hours in a hot car. If you aren’t familiar with Georgia summers it can get over a hundred degrees at times. When he got back into his car at the end of the day he didn’t notice the baby either. He didn’t notice the baby until he was switching lanes on his way home.
I don’t understand how he didn’t notice. There had to be a smell of some sort. I’m not trying to be mean or gross or anything of the sort. You have to figure that the baby, at the least, went potty at some point. We all know how that can smell up a car. In the end he was found guilty and sentenced. We all forget things at times and my sister has forgotten her children at my house in the past due to her ADHD. As a parent I get that. He went to breakfast with his baby (who was like a year old) then a couple of minutes after putting the little boy in his car seat went to work. He spent a lot of time in the parking lot in the car once he got to work. It just all seemed so odd and mad me so angry. I always put my purse in the backseat if I have the kids with. In fact I make sure that it is out of reach so I actually have to open the back door in order to get to it.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

This guy got life in prison without parole. He did it on purpose. They prosecutors proved it beyond a reasonable doubt. It is so sad that kids are being left in hot cars and every year we have to hear about children dying. It is so sad!!

You’re right the prosecutors did a wonderful job of proving his guilt. Like I said there were things they had on tape that just seemed odd to me. It is sad that this is happening. I have heard of some car manufactures trying to put things into place to help prevent this. Like an dinging or something that will go off if there is a carseat in the back.

Justice was served..if you didn’t want your child then reach out to someone that would give the child the love and care that it so deserves..my heart aches and weeps for such lack of love.

Oh I just have such a hard time thinking that someone could possibly forget. I did not see any of this, but from what you say, how could he not know if he went back at lunch. Oh so sad. 🙁
