Have I told y’all they are building a house next door to me? I am pretty sure that I have and I will tell you now that I have all sorts of house envy. I mean my house is great, don’t get me wrong but there is so much to love inside the new house that I swear I want to run over there and hide away. First, the ceilings are tongue and groove. That means they are all wood and look so beautiful. I would take pictures but I don’t want to make the builders angry. Mostly because I take a lot of pictures of the things I love. They look at me like they hate me when I walk over there.
One thing I love (and had to ask about) was they put in a heating cable from Heatline that helps keep pipes from freezing. Now we live in the south and this isn’t always a problem. However, the fact that they considered it thrilled me. The reason is because we live int he south. Most of the time people don’t think it gets cold enough here for things like that. So when it does get cold enough you end up with frozen pipes that burst. We have had to replace pipes in our laundry room several times over the years. Our laundry happens to be outside and has no heat or air.
I hate that it is outside but the truth is there is no where to move it to inside the house. I have to go out onto the back porch and then into the laundry room. It always freaks me out if I have to go out there at night. All I imagine is Friday the 13th where the girl is in the laundry room and Micheal is out there watching her. If you need something washed at night at my house you out of luck! The laundry room in the house next door is to die for. It is right off of the kitchen and has one of those barn doors that slide. What is not to love about that?
I don’t know all of the things that go into a new construction, although this website has plenty of information on that. what I do know is that the builders of the house next door seem to be taking great care in creating a beautiful house. They have been over there for a good six months maybe longer. I don’t know if that is how long it is suppose to take but every few days I go over and dream and drool.
The kitchen isn’t huge but it is bigger than mine and has butcher block counter tops. I have out of date counter tops from the seventies. They are on my list of things to update but I haven’t got to them yet. The two bathrooms need to be done first. Which is going to happen over the spring and summer. The problem is we will have to do one at a time and that means having to share the other bathroom. Oh well, I will just have to keep checking out all the things I love about the house next door until it sells.
Do you have house envy? Tell me all the things you love about the house of your dreams?
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
