How Can You Keep Your Wardrobe Updated With Branded Clothes This Season

Nov 07, 2012 | Rita

By: Alex & le temps qui passe
Branded clothes like La Redoute can put some recognisable spice into your wardrobe. The trick to keeping up to date, though, is less about brands and more about working out what sorts of clothes represent who you are and how you feel – when you tie in with a brand, it should be because the types of clothes the brand puts out are the right ones for you.

La Redoute has adopted the admirable habit of both branding its own clothes – that is, you can buy a La Redoute jacket for how it looks rather than because it has a big branding sewn onto the chest or the back. The clothes created by this particular design house let the cut, the colour and the cloth do the talking.

The truly trendy wardrobe is far more interested in cuts and colours than it is in ostentatious signage. Let the patterns that flatter or excite you take the lead, rather than worrying about whether your friends can see how much you have spent on a specific brand name. Think less about logos and more about whether the colour and cut of your new jacket will accentuate the style of your outfit.

La Redoute’s current styles and clothing lines bring something into the mix for most tastes. Lots of the more forward thinking brands have already taken the hint that fashion is for the masses rather than the catwalk, and are developing ranges of clothes in different styles. This goes against the received wisdom that a certain brand is associated with one image and one alone. If you are a fan of the La Redoute quality (or indeed the quality of any specific brand), you can define your different looks without stepping away from the fold.

That said, you should be wary of entirely stocking your wardrobe with clothes by a single brand. At the end of the day, the whole point of having a more democratic fashion is that you can mix and match as you please, choosing clothes for what they are rather than because of the label sewn into the collar. New branded clothes are, as noted, more about style than they are about advertising.

Really, when you’re buying branded clothing these days, you’re doing it more because you place your trust in the quality of workmanship from certain labels. Buying clothes from La Redoute or any other brand is about purchasing peace of mind – you know the clothes are going to look god, but you also know that they are going to make you feel good for longer because they are more likely to retain their comfort and remain continually hard wearing too.

A less expensive, unbranded garment may be cut in the same style and look roughly identical. It doesn’t have the history and quality that the branded option does, though. So when you look for something that really represents value for money, you look to the brand.

Buying clothes from brands like La Redoute is all about feeling good – and part of feeling good is being sure you are paying for quality that will last.

I have certain brands that have been ‘tried and true’ throughout the years.. but it is a good point to not buy a brand just for the label!

Lots of good and true points in the is particle. I am brand loyal to a fault, which can get expensive. Every now and then I will luck onto a really good item at a garage sale or goodwill and will be happy with the savings …which allows me that little extra to spend on the good pieces I really do want.
