When working from home, most people assume they cannot suffer from burnout, but they actually can. It can be overwhelming trying to juggle different activities, take care of the household chores, meet your work deadlines and create some time for yourself.

Also, if you are learning how to work from home, it might take some time to discover what works for you. Before that happens, you have to try different work modules, fail at some, but eventually, you’ll find a favorable schedule.
Working from home means apart from attending to your office work responsibilities, you have to take care of the kids, make sure everything at home is in order and give the family the attention they deserve. If you don’t have anyone else helping with the house chores, this can be overwhelming.
How do you know that you have burnout? When you wake up feeling tired, demotivated, have low energy levels, and cannot handle tasks effectively, you might suffer from burnout. What do you do to avoid burnout, or how do you recover?
When you feel like this, stop everything you are doing and find a more relaxing activity such as keeping up with the highlights and lowlights of the NHL 2019-20 season. Probably, there is a lot you’ve missed as you try to juggle work and family life.
Pause Everything
You might have a lot of work to handle, such as pending office tasks, kids to take care of, and household chores to complete but pause everything and take a break. Sleep if you feel you should. Relax, watch a movie or go out for a walk. Do whatever that helps you relax and unwind.
Most importantly, take some days off from work, and dedicate the time to yourself. During this time, hire someone to take care of the children, and let your employer or clients know you will not be available. You might inconvenience your customers for a few days, but after the break, you’ll be able to give them better services.
Make sure you’re well-rested for a day or two before sitting down to restructure your day’s events. Write down everything you need to accomplish on a typical day, including work and house activities.
It’s during the deliberation that you’ll figure out whether you need someone to help take care of the house chores and children or you can create a better work schedule. As you figure out what works for you, remember that you also need to relax and enjoy entertaining activities such as watching your favorite movies, attending a sports event, catching up with friends, or reading a book.
Create a Better Work-Life Balance
When you understand all that you need to do in a day, try to balance your time well. Create enough time for office work, and make sure you set aside time for family and personal activities. Because both are important, learning how to create a better work-life balance will give you a more fulfilling life and prevent burnout.
Understand when you have to stop working and attend to your family or indulge in exciting and more relaxing activities such as preparing a delicious family meal, playing with the children, or just spending quality time with your spouse.
You will feel more in control of your life when you have a sustainable work-life balance. Your family, too, will be happy and fulfilled and not feel neglected.
Stop Worrying Over What You Cannot Change
As you will realize, every work from home day is unique. Some days, you will accomplish more than others but don’t beat yourself or feel disappointed. Learn to take each day as it comes and do your best to make the work-life balance fulfilling.
To find more fulfillment, don’t take more than you can handle. Know your limits, understand what works for you, and don’t compare yourself to anyone else. When you feel your body needs to rest, stop everything you’re doing, take a nap, go out, jog, or meditate.
With the coronavirus pandemic, you might worry about job security, keeping your family safe, and managing to stay healthy. Worrying will leave you stressed out. Instead, if you fear losing your job, think of creating other income streams.
It also helps to have an active outdoor life. Get to spend quality time with your friends, check on your colleagues, and plan a family vacation when it’s safe, and you can afford it.
Also, take better care of your health. Exercise regularly, eat healthier meals, and learn to stay positive even when challenges threaten your peace. With time, you’ll adapt to working from home, and it will not feel strange or overwhelming.
