I Loved You First by: Reena Jacobs

“I loved you first” by Reena Jacobs follows the life’s of two best friends Alex and Seth. Written from Alex’s view the book is full of humor, hurt and heartbreak as Alex tries to come to turns with the fact that her best friend forever is gay. Oh right, and that shes also in love with him. “I loved You First” is not your typical love story.

Reena Jacobs does an amazing job of bringing Alex to life for her readers as she’s pulled one way and then another by her friend. As the keeper of Seth’s secret we get to watch as Alex is torn between staying true and loyal to her friend or if she will finally step out of his shadow, put herself first and risk losing him all together.

I loved following Alex along her journey of self discovery. I have to admit though I found Seth’s personality to be repulsive and undesirable and couldn’t quiet grasp why Alex’s love was so strong for him. I really wish that Jacobs had given the reader something to better help understand why Alex’s love for Seth was so strong.

Overall I really enjoyed reading the book! I found myself quickly moving through it and never losing interest.
