I Need to Buy Stock!

Feb 14, 2013 | Rita

Lexmark E120N Laser Printer
By: Sir Adavis

I really do need to buy stock, at least in the ink I have to buy for my printer. I figure I alone drive up those stock prices and need to be getting something back . There is always something that needs to be printed and since I am the only one in the family (at least the ones who live near me) that has a printer I do all the printing which means having to buy ink a lot. I have been having to do a lot of paperwork lately for some of these family members which always seems to require that you print a copy of the form you filled out (what is with that?)

I wish I could say that it was cheap but laser toner cartridges for my printer can really add up. The reason is that mine doesn’t just take one or two. It actually takes like five, one for each color. It can be such a pain and I have had to pay $20 a cartridge before for them. Luckily I have found a source that I can get them pretty cheap which makes me and my wallet so very super happy.

I need to buy some next week when I get back home because I am printing my planner (another post) and need to stock up on both cartridges and paper so I can take care of everything I need to. My brother doesn’t have a printer either and I didn’t bring mine with me so I have a ton of jobs that need to be printed out. My ink manufacturer is going to have a great year thanks to me. I also have a few lesson plans that I need to get printed out so I can get them turned into the school. You never really know how much you print until you are in the position where you can’t.

How much does your ink cost? Do you print a lot or are more electronic?

You are not kidding! I have an Epson color photo printer and, while I love the printer, I dread replacing the cartridges. I have paid for the printer three or four times over in cartridge replacements (It’s about $80 every time I need to replace the full cartridge set and I have to do this at least once a year – more if I print a lot of photos). I use my printer mainly for photos and try to use my phone to display directions, coupons, etc.

I have a laser printer and I do not print with it in colored ink. I only print in black. I print out documents and coupons! My ink lasts me for over a year and I only spend $40 dollars a year on ink.

We do a lot of printing and go through ink like crazy! We’ve found an online source for purchasing our ink that is much cheaper than in store. We buy remanufactured ink for about $14 which is about half the price of name brand ink.

Printer cartridges are anywhere from $40 to $50. For that reason, I don’t print out anything unless I have to. I really like it when retailers let you show a coupon off your phone.

The good thing for me is that we don’t use ours too much anymore. I would probably print a lot more coupons, but I use Linux and most coupon sites don’t seem to recognize it. I wonder if it would save more money to coupon and have to buy more ink???

My husband was just complaining about the cost of ink the other day. He said when this ink runs out he wants to just buy a new printer cause its cheaper then getting the ink.. We don’t print a lot, but it still runs out fast.

Thank you for the information. This is helpful, as it feels like my wife and I are always having to replace our print cartridge.

I am such an ink miser that honestly (and this is embarassing) that my ink dries out. I generally only print black & white too but hate with a passion to waste paper.

I think it’s crazy how much they charge for ink. With two kids doing homework and my printing coupons we go through ink way to fast. You can get a printer for the price of some ink cartridges.

ink prices are high. i usually buy remanufactured cartridges because they are cheaper or fill my own ink to save money.

I print a lot also. We just bought a new printer because ours went out but my daughter picked up one that wasn’t laser. I wanted the laser that yo could get 8,000 copies on. Not sure what the cost of this ink will be. I use to order on Amazon where I found some great places. I probably will again. I love printing recipes and have to get my coupons

It seems like ink has gotten pricey and still going up! I try to as much as possible print in black only and that is, if I really need to print.

I try to use the minimal printing processing for whatever I need to print if I can get away with it. I also, like someone else mentioned, use remanufactured cartridges/fill my own cartridges with ink. Then there’s always going to those websites where you can cartridges for cheap as a bulk price. It’s unfortunate that ink price is so inflated!

I am right there with ya, ink for my printer is 45-55 unless I get it at Sam’s then I can get 3 for 80 that is just for black… I stopped printing as much unless I really need to. Hubby bought an external hard drive for me to store and organize everything from my recipes to taxes on so I have my documents saved just in case I ever need them. I do coupon but I don’t do the printables unless it is a super good one haha.
