I love being able to give food for gifts like jerky from Jerky Snob. Why you may ask? Food tends to be a very personal gift. You either nail it or flop all together. I remember my Granny used to give people fruit cakes. Oh my Lord! Ours always ended up in the freezer only to be pulled out and thrown away the next time she visited so she wouldn’t know.

My nephew loves jerky. To the point that we go to a specialty store and spend an astronomical amount of money on it. So when Jerky Snob sent us a package of their finest I knew there would be a connoisseur to give it a taste. I can’t always tell the difference in the taste between the different kinds.  We received a couple of flavors from four of their artisans that really set Jerky Snob apart from even the store we visit. Jerky Snob was started when a disappointed couple began looking for jerky that had flavor. They had the same problem I had with it! It all tasted the same, a little cardboard! Their mission is to find the best quality jerky

TURKEY JERKY BY PURE PROVISIONS

 

The Jamaican Style Jerk Turkey Jerky came in a small package which i love  because it would perfect to pop into a lunch bag or just into your bag for a snack later. Reese enjoyed this one, I don’t like Jamaican Jerk so I didn’t try this one. It is just one of those flavors that don’t do it for me.

This Cracked Black Pepper Jerky was my favorite of the group and I don’t even like pepper. I don’t and when I first opened the package I could smell the pepper. It wasn’t so strong that I would refuse to even try it though and I am so glad that I did. I don’t know if the fact that it was grass fed or what made the difference but I loved it.

The Thanksgiving Turkey Jerky was a bit different. It did,in fact, taste like turkey which is a good thing. I don’t know if this would be a flavor that I would like all of the time but there are times during the year that a little turkey would be awesome.

 

The Wild Boar Jerky was super different for me. The fact that the package says “Made from feral swine and pork” freaked me out a little bit. I mean…..feral….REALLY? I honestly admit that this was one of those “You try it first” moments where I attempted to get everyone possible to try it before me. It seriously freaked me! Then I told myself to woman up and give a go. In the end it was super good. I didn’t expect to be and I’m glad I tried it. I think next time though I will quickly put it not a different container so I don’t have to see how feral it is.
