As we get into Chapter 7 the king asks Esther what it is she wants? He tells her he will give her anything including half of his kingdom if that is what she asks. That tells a lot about this king especially in that age. Women were thought to be less than human but this king loves Esther and sees her as his equal. While there are laws that must be obeyed even he is willing to look pass them for his love.
Esther tells the king that she would have him spare her people as well as her own life. The king is shocked and asks who is threatening her. She tells him Haman and what has been going on. I love the king’s question to Haman “Will you even molest the queen in my own house?” (7:8)
Haman of course shamed and it comes out that he has prepared a cross for Mordeci to be crucified on. He however finds himself on that cross for his wicked ways. In chapter 8 and beyond Esther and Mordeci write a new decree to the Jews on the king’s behalf and with the king’s blessings sparing all of their lives.
The story of Esther is one of overcoming obstacles and being strong and brave. However it is also one of love. Had the king not loved Esther as much as he did, had he not seen her as his equal and not a woman to be tossed aside this story would have had a very different ending.
Love, in the end, conquers all.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I like that this is about true love and how it can over come huge hurdles. It’s also about how you reap what you sow. Haman is the perfect example of that.

I have to be honest that this is not a story that I know well. So glad that you are covering it here. There is so much I still need to learn about the Bible. So many wonderful stories.
