July is national Park and Recreation Month and local parks are encouraging everyone to come out this month and experience all the wonderful aspects of parks and recreation. Nationwide, recreation departments have organized events and activities to help families spend quality time together, enjoy nature and get active. This provides a great opportunity to not only make the most of the beautiful weather, but also to take a stand against the obesity epidemic and technology trends that consistently keep more kids indoors and living less active lifestyles.
As someone who lives with a park I can tell you there in nothing better than the views I enjoy and the quietness of my home. I am within walking distance of the best trail around and a pool that is simply divine. It is all very breathtaking and I could not ask for anything better. I have been to many parks all of the country and each one has its own breathtaking beauty.
As part of Park and Recreation Month, the National Recreation and Park Association is encouraging everyone to show the love for local parks and recreation and wants everyone to answer the question, “I Love my Parks and Recreation Because…” They have a fill in the blank social media poster that can be filled in and shared, and a fun month-long weekly photo contest that encourages everyone to show and share the LOVE for local parks! The NRPA website includes information on all of the above initiatives, free downloadable resources as well as a calendar of events scheduled nationwide.
With summer in full swing we are working hard at getting out more and more and most of that getting outside has been right here at our park. There is a playground, camping areas, a lake, fishing, grills, and so many actives for us to do that we don’t have to spend a lot of money or travel anywhere. It is right here in our own backyard!
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

We go to Andrew Jackson State Park several times a year. They have what is supposed to be the school house he attended. North Carolina and South Carolina fight over which state he was actually born in. It has one of the oldest chapels in the SC that is still used to this date for weddings and such. Walking trails where you can run across a wild turkey or peacock. I little lake with paddle boats, etc. etc. Just a wonderful place and only 20 minutes from our house.
