Brendan King grew up in the foster care system, living is 18 different homes. He found stability and family in the Avenue D gang but he also found drugs, death, and a 3 year prison sentence. While in prison Brendan begins to read the Bible, because it is the only book they would let him have as he tells it. Through his reading he develops a relationship with the Savior and now that he is out on parole Brendan is simply trying to finish high school and put his past life behind him. However the past has a way of catching up with us and slapping us in the face!
I watched King’s Faith alone mostly because I wasn’t really sure the content and if it would be okay for children. It is rated PG 13 for violence, drug content and thematic elements and I wouldn’t suggest letting younger children watch it.The violence and drug content is not as graphic as it is in most movies today (thank you so much!) but younger children just won’t understand it. The first thing that I noticed and loved is that although this is a Christian movie the teenagers are dressed as you would see teenagers dressed today. While not a lot is hanging out all over the place neither is it so covered up that you just can’t relate. It is very real feeling which makes it all the better.
The story follows several relationships and the way Brendan interacts with this people and changes them is interesting. Brendan moves in with Mike and Vanessa and you immediately know that there are things in their own past that they are running from.Mike is very religious and helps Brendan all that he can while Vanessa has lost her faith after the death of her son, Louis. Their friend Russell, who is a police officer, not only carries the guilt behind Louis’ death but also really rides Brendan. He is always waiting for Brendan to make a mistake.
Natalie Jenkins is a rich, snobby girl who Brendan saves and later hears about his bad boy past. After Brandon She becomes a part of the Christian club at school as part of her parole. Natalie who is so empty inside because of her past finally shares her secret with Brendan, who encourages her to change her life, and do what is right. On top of all of this Brendan’s past haunts him everywhere he turns. The gang he was a member of attempts to pull him back in and takes typical gang measures to lure him back. In the end it all comes down to Brendan’s choice: the gang and life that will surly lead to his death or his new life with Christ and all the hope that comes with it.
This was simply one of the best movies I have seen this year. I called my family to tell them about it because it was so great. I hope that you all will check it out. It is truly inspiring. The movie also has a Bible Study for youth that can be ordered online called Live Out Loud.

This sounds like a great movie, I think its great that more faith based movies like this are being produced.

Great movie that is very true to life, regarding so many people’s struggles. Love that they are making more Christian faith-based movies, with modern ideas to welcome a broader audience. If more people embraced God, the world would be a better place.
