Laser Hair Removal: Personal Vs. Professional

Jan 30, 2017 | Rita

Unwanted hair removal is a frustrating process for most of us. The repeated routine of shaving or waxing or tweezing makes us want to scream in aggravation. Eventually, we seek out a better method than whatever we are currently using. At some point, you may consider laser hair removal. Those who have tried it are most likely highly satisfied with the end results. Still, the cost makes you hesitate. You’ve heard there are personal use versions of hair removal lasers that are far less expensive. Laser is used in many skin treatments successfully and one such example is Pico Laser Treatment by CLÉO clinic. So why spend the money on going to a clinic if you can purchase your own laser? Take a look at how the two compare to one another.

Convenience
While you might immediately think of the personal use as being more convenient to use, don’t forget that many areas are hard to reach, such as the back of the legs, buttocks, and the back itself. Each of these requires help from someone else to reach. In a clinic, the technician can treat all of these areas for you. It is hard to argue with the convenience of using your own laser machine at home whenever you want, but you will still need help with some areas.

Pain tolerance
Laser treatments can be very uncomfortable for some people. In a clinic, the certified technician will apply a topical numbing cream to the skin prior to the procedure if you are concerned with discomfort. If you don’t have this kind of ingredient at home, it can be far more uncomfortable than necessary.

Varying skin tones and types
Skin comes in a wide variety of types and tones, as does hair. In order for any laser treatment to work, the user needs to understand what will or will not work. Laser devices come in a wide variety to address differing shades of skin and hair. Unless you know which model goes with your specific skin and hair, your purchase may wind up being completely ineffective and a waste of money.

Professional clinics have specialized technicians who are trained to understand the different settings on the cosmetic lasers. They are able to safely modify the settings correctly for each client’s needs.

Safety concerns
Unless the user is trained to understand what the laser can do and how to use it properly, there is a risk of injury associated with lasers. Although personal use lasers are not nearly as strong as medical grade lasers, there is still a chance of being injured by improper usage. Certified technicians in a clinic are trained to understand the risks involved with laser equipment and take care to avoid causing injury of any kind to their clients.

The results speak for themselves
Personal use lasers are just not as powerful as medical grade cosmetic lasers. For safety reasons, they can’t be as strong. While some people believe in the advertisements claiming the same power in a personal use device as those found in clinics, it is a fallacy. The hair removal laser treatments in clinics

I am thinking about doing the professional laser hair remover, I have used the different products at home and nothing really lasts and I am so tired of waxing.

I really worry about the safety of at home lasers. I would feel so silly if I had to go in with a severe burn to the ER or something- it’s one of those things I think it is worth saving up for to have it done properly.

I have tried every method of hair removal, all with limited success. I’d love to try laser hair removal.
