One thing I do with the kids every night is read to them. However I recently discovered Laura’s Journey to the Stars which is an app that has a story they adore. This cute story is about a little girl Laura who along with her little brother makes a journey to the stars one night before bed.
Rarely do the twins like stories that are apps. However they listen and watch Laura’s Journey to the Stars every night, in the car, and while riding in the car. If I put anything else on they fuss. The story itself is great and the illustrations by popular children’s book illustrator Klaus Baumgart are amazing. They are so vivid and yet somehow soft. This story is interactive so as they get older they will appreciate that part. I know they will love playing the mini-games once they are able to. I played a couple and loved them!
The sound effects are my favorite and the voice of the person reading is calming. In fact there are native speakers in three languages: English, German, and Mandarin Chinese. Sadly no Spanish but maybe next time (I hope!) I love hearing the story as well. They listened to it over and over again while we were waiting at the doctor’s office. In fact every kid in there was siting around the iPad listening.
A few good things is there are no in-app purchases. Not to mention social media sharing, volume and language controls, and library panel accessible via the title page’s teddy bear. That helps make it very child-friendly. Laura’s Journey to the Stars is the first in a series of interactive stories and I must say if they are all like this one then I want them all! You can download Laura’s Journey to the Stars from iTunes for only $2.99. Trust me you are going to want this one!
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

We mostly read the old fashioned way, but my girls do love a good app on the iPad. We have a few Sandra Boynton books that have been made into apps and my daughters just love them. This story sounds lovely and I like the illustrations a lot.

My son loves playing games on the iPad. I haven’t read books with him on the iPad that often. We do have a few but this one looks really cute.
