Since my children have grown up hearing Spanish (the older ones at least) they already know it. However I had to learn and the twins will of course have to learn as well. I am a huge believer in using every tool at your disposal and that is why the Gus on the Go app is now one of my new favorite tools.
There is a lot to love about this handy app and don’t just mean the cute characters. The kids can learn Spanish while touring places like Chihuahua, Monterrey, Chichen Itza and finally stopping in Mexico City. Victoria loves that Mexico City is on here. This app uses a native Spanish speaker which is important for me because I speak with a Southern slang and can cause all kinds of issues. Kids will learn to pronounce words in these categories:
- animals
- food
- transportation
- clothes
- numbers
- colors
- parts of the body
- shapes
Another great thing is that vocabulary games are unlocked each time they complete an interactive lesson and review. This makes moving on to the next level, so to speak, easy and the kids love it. They love the feeling of accomplishment they get and they are having a great time while learning. I used the app a couple of times myself and can tell you that being able to not only hear the words spoken properly as well as playing a game while learning helped me retain the information longer.

I super love this! My son and daughter both take Spanish at school. I know they are a little old for this but it would be a fun way to refresh their learning.

I wish this could be developed for older students also – to appeal to them. My high school student might use it then to supplement his learning.
