May was rather busy. As I said in a Friday Conversation post I have been healing. However, the seniors have had some things going on as well. My uncle had his second heart surgery this month. He had some serious blockages and back in February they did surgery to clean up one of the Artie’s. One is his is considered a “dead” artery. There is nothing they can do for that and the this one was the third and final one they need to work on.
Sitting in a hospital while recovering myself was not the ideal situation but my mother couldn’t go sit there. She has skin cancer removed in April and a large chunk of her arm was cut into as you can see in the picture. She just didn’t have the immune system to go and sit there. Now, we could have dropped him off and then came back later but that isn’t who we are. My mother would have worried herself to death. So, I sat there for her.
I also had some surgery on my knee yesterday. It was outpatient and I will still need knee replacement at some point. I had a laceration that needed to be repaired but the osteoarthritis is just wearing it down. The goal of yesterday’s surgery was to help me keep my knee working for as long as possible. My doctor doesn’t want to rush the replacement as it will be a rather long recovery.
So I am currently resting off my knee from the weekend to recover. The hope is by Monday I will be back up and around enough to function properly and then within a week be back to normal.
Aquaman
I’m not sure if I showed y’all this yet or not but my mother loves Aquaman so I got her one. He is not opened and is in her curio cabinet. I thought it would be bit smaller than it was but whatever.
Buc-ees Beaver Nuggets
I have yet to visit a Buc-ees but my brother was wonderful enough to visit one and send me Beaver Nuggets. I love these things! They are puffed corn that is sort of like caramel popcorn but not. It’s hard to explain but they are so good.
Not Mathing
Ma got a Cornhole set for Mother’s Day because she wanted one. I didn’t want to have to sit and keep score on paper so I got this little score keeper from Amazon.
Another Mother’s Day Gift
She also got this pretty flower light thing. It is just too cute to not share with y’all. She loves flowers but honestly they were starting to taken over. Our living room is covered in them. Which is fine but I found this and knew she could have flowers in her room and not die.
We Like Our Steak
We love steak around here. We actually got these marked down at the Winn-Dixie we shop at. They were the best steaks we have had in a while and not so expensive that we felt guilty for the price.
I Mean Really Like Our Steak
In fact, we had invited a friend who ended up not being able to come after we had cooked extra. So we saved that and had steak and eggs for breakfast. I also took the extra baked potato and fried it. On a side note the paper plate is because I was being lazy and didn’t want to wash dishes.
Growing Tomatoes
We are growing Tomatoes and these babies have just shot up. In fact, I took this picture last week. They are not taller than the house. We haven’t gotten any tomatoes yet but they are flowering so we should get some soon.
My Current Ride
Yep! That is what I had to use earlier in the month and will have to again for about a week use once I come of the crutches. I don’t mind really because it helps way more than I ever thought it would.
Yellowstone Beef Stick
We like the television show Yellowstone so when I saw this beef Stick in Walmart (they have a whole line of items) I picked it up to give a try. It was good, way better than I thought it would be.

February is ending and this Leap Day creeped up on me far more quickly than I thought it would. I could have swore I had far more time to get this post and a few other things done. That is what happens when you are away from home for any length of time though.
I had a great time although there were a few hiccups along the way. I came back home ready to face a few things better. At least in a better frame of mind for them. Which is important. While it was a full on vacation it was a nice couple of weeks away to break up the dreariness that is the winter.
Although I must say I woke up this morning and discovered we had snow flurries earlier but by the time I woke they were gone. talk about being mad. We haven’t had any sort of snow in a couple of years and I miss snow. It was almost eighty degrees yesterday though so there is that. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain like it’s monsoon season.
Now to the pictures that I took over the course of the last month that are just sitting on my phone. As always they are random and I can’t always explain why I took the ones that I did.
Travel at Night
My brother came and got me this time around and it ended up being late on a Friday night that we were traveling through Atlanta. We made good time but at this point traffic was picking up and starting to stall out because of an accident further up the road.
Whataburger
I have never been to Whataburger! I live in Georgia and we just haven’t had the chance to go to one. This one was in Commerce, GA and I am so glad we ended up stopped here. My brother had wanted to go tot Krystal because he doesn’t get it that often. However, they were closed which seemed so weird to us. I didn’t think they closed until super late if at all.
It Was Good
I got this burger which was really good. It was almost too much with the fries and drink that I got as well. I wasn’t sure what to order. I told my brother to get me the same thing as him with a regular Coke. By this point I had to pee so bad and was so hungry I would have eaten a horse with a care.
Toy Truck
So, my sister in-law has a Honda Truck with a right hand drive. My brother drives it to work a lot but I have to tell you this thing was so much fun. You would not believe the looks we got anytime we were out and about in this thing.
Miles vs Kilometers
The only thing is her speedometer is in kilometers so she uses an app on her phone to do mph so she knows how fast she is going. I can not begin to tell you how hard I laughed at this.
What a Disappointment
This is the breakfast I get from a little place there in Anderson all the time. This was the first time that it was bad. I ordered a bowl of gravy but got grits. I dip the tater tots in the gravy. The grits didn’t work out as well. The country ham biscuit was so salty I couldn’t eat it. However, it was the Coke that upset me the most. They have the most perfect ice but the three times that I got a soda from them it was nothing but syrup. I mean I poured it out and it didn’t foam up at all.
No More T-shirts
Normally when my brother goes somewhere and I house sit he brings me back a t-shirt from wherever they went. The only thing is the t-shirts don’t always fit right. They noticed I was never wearing them so this trip they brought me back some magnets from Vegas. I like them much better.
Meet Harvey
Their dog had to be put down in September of last year. Turner was simply amazing and if you have been with me a while you know that I spent years house sitting because he had separation anxiety. He and I had a special bond.
He had gotten older and was having such a hard time just walking that the vet felt putting him down was the kindest thing they could do. He simply couldn’t move or function anymore. He wouldn’t eat or drink anything. It was bad! My brother FaceTimed me in tears so I could say goodbye.
Neither my brother or I were ready for a new puppy (and Turner wasn’t even mine) but my sister in-law brought Harvey home for Valentine’s Day. It took a few days but my brother has opened up to him more and more.
We Went to North Carolina
My brother and I took a trip to North Carolina one day. The drive was nice and we always enjoyed spending time together talking, laughing, and pretty whatever.
To Pickup the Jeep
Of course we went there to pick up his Jeep! He had some work done to it and it was time to pick it up. We got it loaded onto the trailer (that he bought just to haul his Jeep) and then had lunch before heading back to his house in South Carolina.
A Giant Peach
In Gaffney, South Carolina there is a giant peach. My brother said they are known for the peaches. This thing just amazed me for some reason so I had to snap a picture.
That was my month and as you can see it was a pretty good one. It was full and I enjoyed it as I said. Who knows what next month will bring but I will certainly enjoy every moment of it.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

That Aquaman doll is cute. My month was good. Two of my kids finished their spring semesters and now they’re taking each taking a summer class.

My month was busy. I had a procedure done on my fistula for dialysis that went ok. I watched my grandkids for a week. I love to spend time with them.

I hope both you and your mom are doing well!! May was really busy. I also experimented with growing tomatoes in Arizona heat. It worked…until it didn’t lol.
