Life Lately – March 2025 Month in Review

Life Lately – March 2025 Month in Review

March has come and gone in the blink of an eye, and honestly, I’m still trying to figure out if we just wrapped up winter or if spring actually happened while I wasn’t looking. It’s been one of those months where time feels like it’s moving both fast and slow at the same time. So let’s catch up on all the little moments, the chaos, and the things that made March… well, March.

The Great Weather Rollercoaster

March in the South is nothing if not unpredictable. One day, I was wearing short sleeves and considering breaking out the flip-flops, and the next, I was bundled up like I was heading into an arctic expedition. My poor plants are just as confused as I am. The daffodils started blooming early, only to be hit by a surprise cold snap. But hey, that’s just part of the charm, right? (I tell myself this as I mourn my poor, frost-bitten hydrangeas.)

Spring Fever and the Endless To-Do List

Something about March makes me overly ambitious. Maybe it’s the longer days or the promise of fresh starts, but I found myself making lists like I was about to single-handedly renovate the entire house, start a garden, and organize my life. Did I actually accomplish all of that? No. But I did manage to clean out one drawer, and honestly, that feels like a victory.

Adventures in the Kitchen

This month, I finally perfected my buttermilk biscuit recipe (yes, the one I’ve been tweaking for years). There’s something deeply satisfying about getting a biscuit just right—flaky, buttery, and the perfect companion to a spoonful of jam. I also attempted to make homemade pasta, which resulted in a kitchen covered in flour and a lot of questionable noodle shapes. But hey, it tasted good, and that’s what matters.

A Little Bit of Green for St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day brought its usual dose of shenanigans. While I didn’t go all out with a parade or green beer, I did celebrate in my own way—with a big pot of slow-cooked corned beef and cabbage (with a Southern twist, of course). And because I’m me, I made a batch of collard greens too, because why not? Turns out, St. Patrick’s Day and Southern cooking go hand in hand.

Books, Shows, and Cozy Evenings

With the wild weather keeping me indoors more often than not, I managed to sneak in some good reading time. I dove into a few romantic suspense novels and a cozy mystery or two (because there’s nothing better than a little intrigue with your tea). TV-wise, I may or may not have fallen down the rabbit hole of rewatching old sitcoms. There’s just something about comfort TV that makes life feel a little more manageable.

Looking Ahead to April

As March comes to a close, I’m looking forward to April’s full embrace of spring. I’m hoping for more sunshine, fewer weather surprises, and maybe—just maybe—the motivation to tackle a few of those ambitious to-do list items.

Here’s to another month of little victories, good food, and rolling with whatever life throws our way. Cheers to April!

It’s not been a very good month. My mom is really sick and we’ve been spending a lot of time either at the nursing home or hospital and it’s made everything I have hurt.

It was a better month than February. I’m still looking for a job and really hope something comes my way soon.

It’s kind of been a blur, really—weather has been unpredictable here, too!

My month was super busy with appointments here and there and lots of driving. I was also outside doing some yard work and getting ready for spring flowers.

Good days and bad days. On my good days I do Spring cleaning and I usually overdo it and then I’m very achy the next day.

It’s been a quiet month. I have that yellow pollen everywhere, which it plugs up my head every time I go outside.

This month has been cold and we still have snow on the ground although a lot of it has melted. I suspect we will still have flurries and maybe another snowstorm heading into April.

I went on a vacation in March to Mexico with a friend, which was lovely! Otherwise it’s been a pretty quiet month and one where I’ve, yet again, been at a crossroads

Honestly March was really rough mentally. I miss the sunshine! But I am settled into my new place, I’ve got a routine starting to happen and we’ve hopefully seen the last of the snow.

You are so right about March weather in the south! I just can’t keep up with it. I celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with my daughter and now I’m in the middle of decorating for Easter. I’ve been going through some of my closets trying to declutter a bit.

March had some good and not-so-good things happen in our circle. One of us had good health news after some tests, for which we’re immensely thankful. The other received test results that will need further treatment, and today we have to put down our beloved 14-year-old cat.
