Life Lately – September 2025 Month in Review

Life Lately –September 2025 Month in Review

September has always felt like a turning point month. Summer lingers at the edges, refusing to let go, while fall tiptoes in with crisp mornings and golden evenings. It’s a month caught between two worlds, and this year it’s been no different. My September has been filled with change, a little chaos, and a few sweet moments worth remembering. So let’s sit down together—imagine a cozy cup of tea on the table between us—and catch up on what life has been like around here lately.

The Move That Took Over Everything

If you’ve been following along, you already know that our September has been dominated by one big, surprising word: moving. We didn’t plan it, we didn’t expect it, but here we are surrounded by boxes, bubble wrap, and an ever-growing list of things to do. It’s been a whirlwind of packing, organizing, and discovering just how much stuff we actually own. Spoiler alert: it’s too much.

There’s something about moving that makes you confront all the odds and ends you’ve been tucking away for years. Do I need five baking pans in slightly different shapes? Why do I have three half-empty bottles of the same lotion? And don’t even get me started on the drawer full of cords that don’t seem to match any device currently in existence. Still, as exhausting as it’s been, I’m reminding myself that this is just a season—and that eventually, the boxes will disappear, the new place will feel like home, and life will find its rhythm again.

Ma and Uncle R: Comic Relief, as Always

Of course, I can’t talk about September without mentioning my live-in comedy duo, Ma and Uncle R. They’ve been equal parts helpful and hilarious through the move. Ma insists on labeling every single box with a full inventory list—right down to “four mismatched spoons” and “one slightly bent whisk.” Meanwhile, Uncle R has been caught more than once “testing” the packing tape strength by wrapping it around random objects (including himself). He claims he’s ensuring the tape will hold during the move. I think he just likes making me roll my eyes.

When the stress starts to bubble up, their antics remind me not to take everything so seriously. Sure, moving is overwhelming, but it’s also a new chapter—and laughter makes even the heaviest box feel a little lighter.

The Weather Shift

September weather has been showing off its indecisive side. One day it’s hot enough that I wonder if fall will ever arrive, and the next morning I’m reaching for a sweater before I’ve even finished my first cup of coffee. The cicadas are still buzzing, but the leaves are starting to hint at orange and gold. It’s that in-between season I secretly love.

There’s something about the way September evenings settle in that feels like a hug. The sun sets earlier, shadows stretch across the yard, and the air smells faintly of wood smoke. Even amidst the chaos of moving, I’ve found myself pausing to soak it in—because September’s magic is subtle, and if you’re too busy rushing, you might miss it.

A Little Self-Care Amid the Chaos

I won’t pretend September has been easy. Change is hard, even when you know it’s necessary. But I’ve been making small efforts to carve out moments of peace for myself. A quiet afternoon walk, even if it’s just around the block. An extra-long shower with sweet smelling soap. A cup of tea enjoyed without multitasking. These tiny pauses have made all the difference in keeping me grounded.

And let’s be honest—sometimes self-care looks like ignoring the to-do list for an hour and watching something completely mindless on TV. Balance, right?

Looking Ahead to October

As September draws to a close, I can feel myself leaning toward fall with open arms. I know October will bring its own challenges (and hopefully some progress in the unpacking department), but it also promises cozy nights, pumpkins on the porch, and maybe—just maybe—time to catch my breath.

This season of transition has reminded me of something important: life doesn’t always follow our plans, but it has a way of nudging us forward anyway. Sometimes that looks like a messy, rushed move. Sometimes it looks like a new beginning wrapped in cardboard boxes. Either way, we get through it one day, one laugh, and one pumpkin spice latte at a time.

Final Thoughts

So that’s life lately in September—busy, overwhelming, and unexpectedly full of gratitude. Even when things don’t go as planned, I’ve found joy in small ways: Ma’s running commentary on packing efficiency, Uncle R’s questionable tape experiments, and the comfort of knowing that seasons change, boxes get unpacked, and new routines eventually settle in.

Here’s to welcoming October with hope, humor, and maybe a slice of apple pie if I can find the baking dish.

Enter the Giveaway

Normally this is where I have a monthly giveaway. However, Rafflecopter will be shutting down on October 1st and I haven’t had a chance to find a replacement. It is something I have on my list and as soon as I get one figured out I will restart these giveaways.

I am so curious as to why the move? I had a big move in December from the house I had lived in most of my adult life. I sold it as a tear down and was pleased with the price. I did move 3 hours away to a whole new town. I kept getting lost. It was a lot. Just like you said, the “STUFF” you accumulate is unreal at times.
