You’re probably thinking, ‘this shall be a hoot’ but we’re serious, cleaning up leaves can be fun. It’s something that is therapeutic, as you’re slowly going around making things neat and tidy, while also racking up a pile of soft leaves that could act like your napping bed for the next half hour. Now every gardener has their own technique for how best to collect the leaves in their garden and driveway, some may use a good old rake while others will use a cordless leaf blower. Others who don’t really care, just want to know what the fastest way possible, is. We just want to give you the best choices so you can make up your own mind.
Bag vs tarp
Usually, we think that a large trash bag is suited for our task of ridding the garden of so many leaves. You can move it around, even when it’s almost full and it doesn’t cost much either. There are others who say that a tarp is much better. You can pile the leaves onto one giant flat surface, and then with the help of someone else, fold up and drag the tarp full of leaves to a flatbed truck to empty. It all depends. For some people a tarp is better because you can do the entire garden in one go without having to do what you’d do with a trash bag, which is to change it multiple times as they get full. However, you may need a helping hand to fold up and drag the tarp away when you’re done.
Gutter spouts
Gutter spouts are notoriously difficult to clean but we think we have the trick. You should use a leaf blower and a broomstick. Get up top and point the leaf blower down into the spout, and use a broom to prod down into the blockage. You should be free of the block within a few seconds. If you’d rather not bother with this hassle, then you can always hire professional Gutter Cleaning to do it for you. They will clean the gutters by hand, use a pressure spray but also, use ladders that won’t touch the gutters. Using a leaf blower, they can also rid the roof of any leaves too, so they don’t end up being washed into the gutter the next time it rains.
Blower wars
Two teams, both have one half of the lawn, they have 30 seconds to blow as many leaves into the other team’s half. At the end of 30 seconds, the team with the most amount of leaves has to fill half a trash bag. Then the next round begins. And on and on it goes until there are no more leaves. The team with the least amount of bags, wins! It’s fun but you need at least 2 good leaf blowers so each person of each team can take a turn at playing.
Who says cleaning the garden up can’t be fun? Yes it’s not as fun as water gun fights but it’s not as boring as you first thought right? Okay, maybe, but give a try before you knock it!
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Thanks for sharing these great tips. I think leaves are pretty and it is important to show your kids the fun in cleaning up the leaves so the new leaves can bloom on the trees in springtime.

We’ve been cleaning clogged drain pipes already and I don’t think hubby finds it fun. lol. Raking can be fun, however, with the dogs!
