Giving up smoking is rarely a bad thing. Some people might say that swapping it for vaping is like leaping out of the cauldron and into the fire. The truth is probably that while vaping might not be a healthy habit, it’s certainly no worse than smoking, and probably much better.
However, if you expect vaping to be identical to smoking, then you should think again. It’s similar, but it’s not the same. Below, we’re going to explain a few things about the similarities and differences between vaping and smoking.
- The throat hit: ah, if you’ve ever smoked, you probably love that feeling of the smoke hitting the back of your throat as you draw it back. With vaping, you do get a hit, but it’s not as strong as it is with smoking. You can make it stronger by messing around with the VG/PG ratio, but you’ll never quite match smoking.

- The flavour: when you first start vaping, you might find it a struggle not to pick up a cigarette just to taste the flavour again. Vaping liquids tend to be sweet. That’s radically different to the flavour that you’ll be used to with smoking. There are places where you can buy e liquid online UK that mimics the flavour of tobacco, but again, it’s not quite the same. Once you get used to the different flavours, you should start to want to experiment. As long as you remember that vaping is not going to be the same as smoking, you can start to enjoy vaping for the fun pastime that it is.
- Your wallet will grow: honestly, you probably don’t really think about how much money you spend on cigarettes, but believe me, it’s noticeable when you stop. Vaping will cost you money, but it’s nowhere near as expensive as smoking. If you struggle with money, then vaping is a great alternative to smoking.
I hope that you’ve not prepared yourself a little for what to expect. Good luck!

I have friends that vape, and here it is about the same as smoking. I think if you lived on the east coast where cigarettes are $10 a pack it would for sure save money. Vaping has really increased around here though.

Hubz and I started vaping about 3 or 4 weeks ago. We have immediately and without any additional effort cut cigarettes by more than half. The cost savings for that alone will have a huge impact on our budget. We found a menthol flavor that passes for what we are used to with the goal of reducing the level of nicotine over time. While vaping is probably not “healthy,” it is by far better than cigarettes and eliminates the “secondhand smoke” issue.
