Making Time

Sep 07, 2016 | Rita

making time

As a blogger, homeschooler, and mother I am always coming across articles and such that I want to read but just don’t have the time. Then when I do have the time I can’t remember the article or where I saw it at. With recipes I simply pin them and when I was doing that the other day it hit me….. Just pin them like I do everything else.

So created a private board that I call “Business” and pin any and everything I want to go back and reread in there. Every Saturday morning before the house wakes up I take the time to go through the board, read the articles or look at whatever I wanted to. If it is something that I want to come back to later such as a check list or such I re-pin to the appropriate  board.

If was just a quick article I wanted to actually take the time to read then I do that and then I delete the pin. When I am finished every Saturday I make sure that the “Business” board is empty and ready for the week. Doing things this way actually allows me to have the time to read those articles or look at those recipes or whatever. Instead of skimming them and deciding if I want to save them or not I can now take the time to actually look at them.

By deleting them I keep the things that I need to check out under control. One big thing though is I don’t go all crazy pinning things in there or it will defeat the purpose. I make sure that it is something I want to go back and check out or I don’t bother with it. I use a ten minute rule. When I run across something I want to pin there I leave the tab open for ten minutes while I do other things. Then when the ten minutes is up if I am still interested it goes onto the board..

How do you handle all the things you don’t have time for?

That’s a really good idea. I boxes and folders of stuff everywhere, thar I’m going to get to, someday. Had my someday been once a week, I would have a much less cluttered life. 🙂

I had the same problem. I just needed to set aside the time and decided that Saturdays would be it since that is my least busy day.

I was just searching for a saved link and realized I have so many saved links that I really need to organize and set a time to look at them to see if I really need them. Thanks for the reminder!

That was one of problems. I would look and look and never find it or couldn’t remember where it was.

Pinterest is amazing, love pinning but never seem to return and look over the pins once I’ve pinned them..lol

I like this idea. I also like your 10 minute rule.
