As the sole person who writes, manages, and does everything else for this blog all marketing duties fall to me. There was a time when you would find me sitting at my computer thirteen hours a day trying to make sure I tweeted the right amount of times, had the correct amount of posts, and so much more. Did I succeed when I did all of that?
I would like to say on some level I did. While only other levels I didn’t. Then I got frustrated and began just doing whatever I wanted how I wanted. However in 2019 I plan to do a little more marketing. I came up with what I will do for each and every article. Although I do admit there are some things that product reviews will get that other articles won’t.
Learning to all of marketing hasn’t been an easy task. I had an assistant who did less than I paid her to do. The best business I made was when I let her go. If I have to do twice the amount of work it ain’t working girly! I know there are firms I can hire but I want to understand (and least feel like I do) what I am doing first. I don’t want to meet with a company and not know hat I need from them.
The best way to figure out what I need is to do it myself and if I fail that’s okay. I will then reach out to someone and get the help I need at that time. I’m not trying to set myself up for failure just trying to find me feet again. I feel like I have finally gotten the blog back to where is was. Maybe even done a little better this year than in the last couple.
I did sit down back November and make myself a marketing calendar. I also came across several packages of pre-written social media stuff. I didn’t purchase any because my stock photography memberships have some quotes that I use from time to time. It helps me balance things out. Not to mention I don’t always have time to create a quote for social media.
That is another aspect of marketing I want to do better in 2019. Creating my graphics. There are moments when I create one and think “How awesome does that look?” and then other times I feel like a three year could do better. It is something that I need to work more on, maybe take a day when I’m not busy and just create a bunch of them. Since practice makes perfect or at least better than you were better.
Having a plan together, even if is a loose one makes me feel better prepared. I signed up for a marketing class or two that I will take in 2019. Those will give me a good foundation to bring it all together and have an amazing year. I will tackle marketing in 2019 and feel proud about it come 2020.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
