Marzetti Carmel Dip with Giveaway

Oct 26, 2011 | Rita

I LOVE Caramel dip! You know the kind that goes over the top of apples. It is sooooo my weakness (well one of them anyway.) I am also a big fan of Marzetti Dips. It is simply a brand htat I trust. When I was given the chance to review the dip I jumped on it. I did run into one tiny problem though. I went to five different stores in my area when I received my coupon and NOT a single one of them had the caramel dip. All I could think is “What the heck?”  I mean really, what is up with that?

From Marzetti Website:

“We will start a new place and serve good food. At a profit if we can, at a loss if we must, but we will serve good food.”

With this short notation on a scrap of paper, Teresa Marzetti set the tone for the company that bears her name. It all began in 1896 when young Teresa Marzetti arrived in the United States from Florence, Italy, and started her small Italian restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.Marzetti’s became a local favorite especially among Ohio State University students, and grew to become a four star restaurant and one of the finest dining experiences in the Midwest.Customers particularly enjoyed Teresa’s Creamy Coleslaw and French dressings, and were often seen leaving the restaurant with bottles of their freshly made favorites. By 1955, the dressings had become so renowned that the upstairs kitchen of the restaurant became a full-scale factory. Thus the Marzetti brand of salad dressings found its way into grocery stores throughout Ohio.

TESTING Marzetti:

So what kind of dip did I get? I ended up getting the Chocolate Fruit Dip. Not that it was bad, I just had my heart set on the caramel. My children on the other hand could have cared less. It was all I could do to make sure the dip made it home with enough fruit to actually give it a try.  I know what you are thinking “What about my diet?” Well it wasn’t like I was liking the dip right out of the container. Actually the Chocolate Fruit Dip is gluten free and 2 tablespoons has about 110 calories. I figure it as long as there is more fruit than dip I’m okay. There are so many other things you can do with the dip though such as making Chocolate Caramel Squares, which I adapted a little by adding an extra layer of the chocolate dip over the caramel.

PROS of Marzetti:

  • There are a lot of different dips and recipes including salad dressings
  • It will make you feel like a child again. Remember eating caramel apples?

CONS of Marzetti:

  • You should buy this when the kids aren’t with you.

SHOP Marzetti:

You can find Marzetti at various retailers. Find one near you here.

WIN:

2 lucky readers will each win a coupon of their own to try out Marzetti
