Matthew’s Journal 40 Days of Christ’s Resurrection by Paul Carrollton is a different sort of biblical tale in that it tells the story of the Resurrection and the events that followed as they occurred.
It’s a sort of first person account (Matthew’s.) as I was reading it felt more like I was reading someone’s secret diary than reading a book. You know the kind where you write down the events that happened to you during the day.
Another thing that I enjoyed about the book was that it didn’t go all the back to the beginning of the bible story. It starts with Jesus and the disciples entering Jerusalem for the Passover and follows the events of the days leading up to the cruixifiction. Then it takes us on the journey of what happens after the resurrection. I think most people know of the disciples work after the resurrection but maybe we aren’t aware that Jesus spend 40 days with them before he ascended.
Matthew’s Journal takes us a very different but just as important biblical story. I loved that it was written in a language I could understand. Many times when people write based on first hand account they use the language of the story teller and end up losing their audience because our brains spend too much time analyzing the words. Mr. Carrollton has done a fabulous job of telling a tale while keeping us focused on the subject. the book is short enough to read in a day but long enough to weave a beautiful account of the events that took place so long ago.
