Meet The Boxtrolls!

I am super excited to introduce you to The Boxtrolls! The Boxtrolls is a Family event movie from the creators of Coraline and Paranorman. Your family will meet a new breed of family that I think is so perfect for my family! Eggs, an orphaned human boy, is lovingly raised by a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who live in a cavernous home beneath the streets of Cheesebridge.  When the town’s village decides to come up with a plan to get rid of The Boxtrolls, Eggs ventures into the light, going above ground where he meets and teams up with Winnifred and together they come up with a plan to save Eggs’ family.

So why do I think The Boxtrolls is the perfect movie for my family? Because the family is blended just like we are. My children are going to be able to relate more to this characters than they do to most others and that alone is something I have waited a long time to see. I love that this movie finally represents our non-traditional family! Another great reason that I can’t wait for my children to see this movie is because it teaches them not to judge a book by its cover or a box by its label. So to speak.

Since we are biracial our family at times has been judged based solely on our skin color. It can be hurtful at times and I have heard all sorts of remarks. The Boxtrolls take on the identity of the box they are made out of. For examples Eggs is named so because his box has a picture of an egg carton on it. However he is truly more than that and I love that my children will see themselves in this amazing movie.

The Boxtrolls hits theaters on 9/26/14 and as you will see from the trailer below, it is going to be the hit of the year!
