Mi Familia Keeps Me Going

Jun 04, 2015 | Rita

Mi Familia

Disclosure: This is part of a sponsored campaign with DiMe Media and Buena Vista Home Entertainment. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

With the way things have been lately if it wasn’t for mi familia I would be mucho mas loca than I already am! It’s the truth and I’m not ashamed ot admit it. It is because of mi familia that I had the drive to get up and get myself to the doctor. While I am of course talking about my children it has been mostly the adults in my loco familia that have kicked me in the rear.

Charlie and Reese Inspiration
It is funny because it is so easy to make sure that I get up everyday and go for the kids. They need me and need me to be as strong as I can be. I remember being young and learning that being strong meant sometimes asking for help when you need it but once I was grown I forgot that. My cousin told me

Tu no es superwoman . Tu no puede hacerlo todo. (You aren’t superwoman. You can’t do it all.)

and she is right. I think one of the biggest things is that in my cultura women are very strong. Thankfully I have a familia that is more than willing to point out that to me. So mi hermanos (brothers) have said that we should start a new tradition and get together once a month at someone’s house. Normally we only do it once a year for the holidays.  The idea is that we will support one another more and to be honest they get to act like big bebes because that is how they are when we are together. It is great for the kids as well because we all get the support we need to be winners in life. In fact check out my video on Instagram to see all the wonderful familia members that keep me going and inspire me!

A great example of support and winners is Disney’s McFarland USA! Based on the true story of a 1987 cross country team from predominantly Mexican-American McFarland High School, in McFarland, California, the film stars Kevin Costner as Jim White, the school’s coach, who leads the team to win a state championship.McFarland USA, which is Now on Blu-ray, Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere, tells the story of how familia and inspiration are the two ingredients that the team needed in order to be victorious. One of the great things is that this story isn’t about just one person’s victory (as mine won’t be about only mine) but about how not only were the athletes inspired but so was the entire community. They were inspired to keep reaching for their goals and dreams! Be sure that you connect with Disney’s McFarland USA on Facebook to learn more about this story of family support and determination!

My husband is definitely my greatest cheerleader! He encourages me to try new things and know that he is there to support me however I need him. I wouldn’t be where I am without him!
