This mini-guide to the fabulous island of Oahu, the third largest and most populated island of the Hawaiian archipelago. This is the very island where the “Lost” series was shot. This guide will be useful to those who are going to spend a vacation here or looking for inspiration, or just want to impress a girl. If you have not decided on a place to vacation, juicy shots of the island, filled with energy and bright colors of the summer, will not leave you a choice. And given travel tips will make life on the island even more unforgettable and help win a heart of any girl!
What about a place where you will be able to stay?
You will be able to stay in one of the beach houses. You can find and book it on the Home Away website or Airbnb. This, of course, is not a five-star hotel, but you will be able to admire the sea and the sound of waves without leaving home. What can be better for a romantic evening?
If you are looking for a private resort and want to go surfing, you should better draw your attention to the North Shore of Oahu Island in the Bonzi Pipeline reef area. And if you want to impress your girl with the most famous beach in the Hawaiian archipelago and walk down the crowded streets, you should go to Waikiki, which is the tourist and cultural center of Honolulu.
What about a place where you will be able to eat?
On the island, you can easily cook for yourself because there is a huge amount of fruits that can be bought from local people, including coconuts and dried bananas. People in Oahu are very friendly and will be unspeakably happy to help you in choosing!
Buy papaya, bananas, lime and cook a super-useful treat. Cut the papaya in half, put into pieces halves of bananas and sprinkle with lime juice.
In addition, at home you can prepare famous Asai bowls, it is something like a thick smoothie made of Asai fruits, blueberries, strawberries and bananas with granola and coconut flakes (of course, you can add the fruits and berries you want). And if you want to try the most delicious bowls in the world, look for Haleiwa Bowls, there are not only acai bowls but also smoothies, juices, and fruits. All products are organic, do not contain dairy ingredients and sugar. Haleiwa Bowls are constantly on the move. In order to track the food court, you should check their Instagram.
In the Waikiki area, be sure to find a rainbow latte and the Leonard’s Bakery. There are the best donuts on earth, which literally melt in your mouth! Your girl will be thrilled.
Try papaya bowls and coconut coffee in Sunrise Shack and the most delicious ice cream can be found in Kailua Ice Cream.
What is worth seeing and doing?
On the island of Oahu, you do not have to look for beautiful places, they are everywhere: green thickets of the jungle or another magnificent beach, but still here are a few must see and must do:
- The Maunawili Waterfall. Be prepared for the fact that this is a real hike. The path to the waterfall is quite heavy, so you should better put on comfortable shoes (not slippers!).
- Makapu’u Tidepools. Here you will have an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean and cliffs, and you will be able to see even other islands in good weather.
- Lanikai Pillbox Hike. It is one of the most picturesque hikes that passes over the beach of Lanikai. It is very light in comparison with Makapu’u Tidepools Hike, and you will be able to find a place on the beach and relax after the hike.
Do not miss a chance to go on the swings, tied to a palm tree. There are many of them along the Bonzi pipeline, it will not be difficult to find. And climb the trees. Seriously, just like in childhood! Some stairs are attached to some of the palms. Thanks to our friends from Romance compass for providing this article.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
