The first month of a brand new year is coming to an end. Can you believe that? It seems like yesterday that we were ringing in 2023. It is so funny how time flies when we are adults. As children it seems like it takes forever for anything to happen. I know it is because as children we have no concept of time and how fast it actually flies by. Some days I wish things would slow down just a little bit.
Before we know it I will be writing the last Month in Review of 2023. It feels like I blink and time has more or less passed me by in recent years. I think there has just been so much turmoil that I haven’t had a chance to catch my breath. Tomorrow starts the beginning of February which is the month of love. I have a fabulous giveaway hop starting tomorrow as well. So make sure you stay tuned for that. I feel a bit unprepared for February today.
What I Have Been Up To
I have been trying to find my footing this year. I thought I was off to a great start but then things slowly progressed downhill. Today I am feeling more than a little tired and worn out. I have several pieces of work to catch up on and I plan to do all of that today. I also have surgery next week. I know I haven’t shared anything about it but I have been preparing for it and it should be a fairly easy one.
Nothing major but something that has to be done. I have also been reevaluating my daily approach to things and schedule. I used to have a rigid way of doing things then I sort of let it all fall away. I need to have a bit more of a plan so I can get things accomplished. I am trying a couple of different things to see which works out the best for me. We shall see how all of it goes.

That’s how my month has been going so far. It has been a rocky start to the new year but I am learning to give myself a little more grace and be okay with where I am at the end of each day.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

It has been slowly getting really cold here and we have gotten a ton of snow so my month has mostly been me staying inside and reading. Read 16 books this month. I also did some organizing but hope to really do more this upcoming month.

My month was ok! We were able to celebrate a family birthday and wrap up my son’s senior high school basketball season.

Unfortunately, my month was spent trying to recover from COVID as I was diagnosed on December 16th and I did have pre-existing conditions. Basically, although the fever and other related symptoms are long gone, I still have shortness of breath and fatigue, which honestly feels more like exhaustion. All of the time. My house is a mess but I have zero energy and that is leaving me depressed and frustrated. Overall, December sucked for me, the holidays that I so looked forward to sucked for me and the first month of the new year sucked for me. This pity party of mine needs to end. I am hoping for things to improve in February…

I had a great January! The worst neighbors I have ever had, in my life, moved! The neighborhood is back to normal. People are going outside because they don’t have to be afraid of their delinquent teenage son. He was arrested on 3 felony counts of aggravated assault and battery. He beat some people up within an inch of their lives.

I had cataract surgery on my right eye – unfortunately aggravated a former retinal issue, so now have fluid in the retina which means more shots in my eyeball (which is as icky as it sounds). But down the road it will get better.
Good news is we do my other eye next month – it has no former retinal issues, so if surgery goes well I’ll have at least ONE good eye! I’m looking forward to better vision!

My month was pretty good sure was a fast one though. It has been super cold here so we have been keeping the wood stove going and taking care of the animals. I am so ready for spring flowers.

My January wasn’t great! I got sick. And I barely read anything thanks to a reading slump. I’m hoping February will get me going this year. On the good side I planned my sister’s baby shower perfectly & I just got my hair done this morning. Feeling better & refreshed! 🙂
