One thing we have learned in the past few months is that we needed more space outside and badly. I began to garden more seriously and needed a place to put my things. Before I had them stored just in my laundry room. Not to mention that my uncle needed a better place to put his outdoor tools and other items. One thing was certain, we needed a shed and badly. The trouble was what kind of shed, out big?
There were so many questions and not a lot of answers. In fact, what we ended up with is a temporary solution until we can make final decisions. The tent gave up a way to visualize the space we would need and how we would use it. One thing we discovered is that I didn’t get much room at all once my uncle put his stuff in there. He had large item like two lawn mowers that required more space. Add in his need for a table, a couple of shelves, and you have the tent full. So when we pick out the shed that will replace the tent we already know we need to go a little larger.
I have been recently looking at some garden sheds for myself that would go on the other side of the yard. I don’t need as much space but it would be nice to have my items separate from his. It would make it easier for me to access them and I mostly store potting stuff and smaller tools.
However, I need it to be cute as well. After all, I will be using for a number of years to come. I want it to be the focal point of the little garden I am slowly adding tp the yard. I don’t want it to stick out like a sore thumb. I also wondered if I need a little greenhouse on the side or not. There is a lot to consider and I have selected the place I want it in the yard. I also have to get approval to add the shed, not only from the county but from our homeowners association. I didn’t think I would need that much approval but I do.
I also know that I want one window, preferably one that works. That way I can let light in since there won’t be any electricity and also a little fresh air when needed. The reason I am considering a greenhouse on the side is because I pot a lot of plants and I could use that side to get things started and to still be able to garden in the winter months. I have made a decision yet but it is one that I am close to finalizing.
Having the space outside to put all of our things is important us. That is why we put that tent up. To be able to get a better idea of what we wanted. It has allowed us to view the area that would become our shed and decide if it is right for us or not. We will certainly be getting two garden sheds if we can decide on size, material, and colors.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
