Last year when The Bible was on the History channel I watched the entire series. I thought it was really great son when Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett came out with Son of God I knew it was one of the movies I really wanted to see. So when I received a copy to review I couldn’t wait to watch it.
The Blue-Ray and DVD came out on June 3rd so you will most certainly see it at your local retailer. A Few of the special features include:
- SON OF GOD: REBORN
- FROM THE SET: THE PASSION
- Son of God: Un Reino sin Fronteras
- Put your faith into practice; introduce children to a relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Theatrical Trailer
Like I said I was eager to see this movie but I am a little disappointed. It seemed like there were a lot of scenes from The Bible although I may be mistaken. I had also hoped that this movie would be centered more around Jesus’ life and not as much his death. Yes, I know his death is the most important part but there are so few movies that really share much about his life. There are a few biblical changes in the movie, for example, Mary is with Jesus the entire time as though she is one of the disciples. There is no mention of her in the bible as being there the entire times but logic dictates that if men followed Jesus women may have as well. I actually like that change! I like that our daughters can see that even during times when women were consider less than that Jesus never looked at them that way.
All in all this was not a bad movie, like I said I was just hoping for something a bit different. I did enjoy it and will watch it again and again because I think it grasps the meaning of Jesus’ life quite well.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I am planning on seeing this next time we rent movies. I understand what you mean about thinking it would have more about Jesus’ life. I got that impression from the previews also. I still want to see it but definitely as a rental and the decide if I want to buy it.

I liked this movie and I’m glad I bought it. I thought about it and decided that I’d like to support faith based movies so I am buying them rather than renting them. One exception; I saw Noah at a viewing last week. I won’t be buying it as it was more of a entertainment movie than a faith based movie, IMHO.
