Since there is only one single vacancy at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and two new arrivals Sonny pursues his dreams of expansion! I really loved the first one  and couldn’t wait to watch this sequel to John Madden’s 2011 hit The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel! Many of the same cast is back including Bill Nighy (Pride) still the perennial charmer with his relationship with the delightfully wonderful Dame Judi Dench (Philomena.) Not to mention the screen stealing co-owners of Jaipur’s supremely successful hotel, played by Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) and Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey).

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie as much as the first. I will admit there were a few things that I would have like to have seen in a better light such as the fact that Sunaina (Desai)  not to be so superficial. I don’t think she was that way in the first one. I think that there were just so many great characters that it was hard to give each and every one of them a wonderful part. However this trip to India is just as beautiful and as romantic as the first!

 

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel does what I knew that it would do! Entertain me and even entertain Ma which by the way is not an easy task to accomplish. The fact that she enjoyed it says a lot about the movie considering she has only liked a handful of movies since sometime in the sixties! ;

  6. I didn’t see either of the movies although the previews intrigued me. I will have to check Amazon video for the first one and watch it. I have no plans for the weekend so I should be able to fit it in.

  9. I’ve never heard of either of these films but they look wonderful. I’m impressed with the casting and the story sounds very good. I’m going to check them out, hopefully at least the 1st will be on Netflix or Amazon Prime snd then I can rent or buy the second. Thanks! 🙂

  10. I saw this movie and really enjoyed it. It has a lot of fun and interesting characters and Judi Dench is very good in this movie!
