Music & All the Emotion It Brings

Oct 25, 2017 | Rita

How many of you love the musical score of a movie or television program? I love certain ones but there are some scores that no matter when I hear them they bring me to tears. The reason is usually something sad was happening when I first heard in the movie. That leads me to always associate that music with sadness.

Of course there are other movie scores that I buy and listen to over and over again. I can remember being a teen and listening to a particular score in my car and everyone looking at me like I was crazy. There were no words only beautiful music and I had it blaring with the windows down. There was something about that music that made me feel good. Even though the movie itself was sad. To this day I love that musical score and I still have it.

Having music around me all the time makes me alive.  I can listen to one score or selection of music and feel every emotion possible. Recently I was a friend who loves country music. A particular song cam eon about fathers and I cried all the way through it. The words and music itself struck a cord with me that I couldn’t shake. It could be because I was thinking about my own father that day.

One of the things I love to do is find out about the composers of the music, especially if I haven’t ever heard of them before. I watch the credits and find out their name and then go in search of their other work. Sometimes I find even more wonderful music, sometimes I discover they were a one hit wonder so to speak. In fact, when Outlander first came on I loved the theme song so much that I did a search of the composer and discovered I loved so many of his other pieces. I didn’t think I would like that music but I do. Now sometimes you will find me humming it while I am cleaning.

Yesterday, John Ross Jesensky I learned about composer whose scores have been heard at and won awards at major events such as the Cannes Film Festival, Phoenix Film Festival, Bare Bones Film Festival and La Gona Film Festival. You may have heard his music on the pilot episode of Occupational Hazards or on the TV movie Be Mine. I have a feeling that his music is going to be finding its way into my personal music collection over the next few days. After all I am always looking for new music to help explore all of my emotions. My therapist told me it was good for me (I’m not joking either, she really did!) You can follow John Jesensky on Instagram to stay up to date on what he is doing at any moment.

I love to turn Pandora on and listen to a mix of my favorite songs as I work on my art and online stores.

Music can really touch my emotions and is always a mood changer for me. I enjoy having it going throughout the day through my pandora or just the radio.

We live and even “speak” music. Some songs can bring back my whole life.
