One of my favorite spots for shooting photos is right outside of my home now. It used to be that our roads were dirt and not much to look at. We live in the woods so I am talking trees, leaves more trees and leaves. It’s a never ending process of trees. I like trees, but it’s nice to have a different view sometimes. When they came in and paved the roads, it gave me that new view.
One I love and use in so many of my images now. This is the view on the side of my house now at the road. There is only one other house back there. That means I can stand in the middle of the road and take many photographs. I attempt to time it just right, because the later in the day it gets the more the sun casts shadows. If you haven’t taken many pictures let me tell you that the sun can be your best friend one minute and the devil the next.
When on this blacktop surface it can mak for some interesting shadows in your pictures. I have learned that the best time of the day for taking photos here is between 11 am and 2 pm. This gives me the full light I need from the sun without it casting those horrible shadows. Although I have taken photos later in the day. It means I have to get more creative.
The entire spot is stunning in its simplicity which I think draws me to it time and time again. I sometimes come out here and walk a little when I am having a bad day. It gets me out of the house and I can breathe a little easier. This is my happy place. Not that I need it all the time but I love knowing I can come out here and feel rejuvenated.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
