My Grandma’s Coffee Cake of New England {Giveaway}

Feb 02, 2012 | Rita

Growing up in the south coffee cake was served whenever someone came for coffee or came to visit.  I don’t know why that was but that is how it was in our home. Coffee cake was one of the special treats and while it was good it was nothing that you just had to have. When I got the chance to review My Grandma’s Coffee Cake of New England I expected to find a few childhood memories.

My Grandma’s of New England® started a sensation in 1990 with Grandma   Esther Cluck’s authentic old world family recipe. An industry was then born in a 250 square foot bakery.

We are the only coffee cake company in Boston.

Today, My Grandma’s continues to grow, baking many varieties by hand six days a week. My Grandma’s can send a freshly baked coffee cake to a friend, family member or business colleague with a personalized gift message to arrive as early as the next business day.  Normal shipping is 2-4 business days.

I was send a large Cinnamon Walnut Coffee Cake and it lasted all of one night in my house. On this occasion, I took out my glass pour-over coffee maker to make coffee and eat this cake. I have been searching for the words to describe this cake and have had a really hard time. The cake part itself is like the moistest pound you have ever bitten into. It just melts in your mouth. However, it is the outside of this cake that has managed to leave me speechless. There are walnuts but no so many as to overpower the cake. Then there is this crunchy  cinnamon streusel that just sends your taste buds in to hyper-speed.  I just could not believe what I was tasting. My kids loved it as well which was unusual because they are not big on pound cakes.

My Grandma’s of  New England  has revive my affair with coffee cake. This will no longer be a guest only dish in my house and my memories of it are sadly now just that…memories. Looking back now I realize that all those cakes I thought was good actually pale in comparison to this one. My Grandma’s of New England has something for everyone including a Cake of the Month Club, which would make a great gift for anyone (hint…hint) as well as Breakfast Baskets which would make great gifts for someone else or even yourself!

    I think the Cappuccino Coffee cake looks great, but I would probably choose the Cinnamon Walnut Coffee Cake so my family would like it. They all look delicious! Thanks for the chance.

    We had our first My Grandma’s coffee cake at Christmas time. Oh Yum!! It was so good to sit down with a cup of coffee, while doing Christmas cards, or listening to Christmas CD’s while enjoying a slice of the Cinnamon Walnut coffee cake. We are now enjoying our second coffee cake, the Red, White and Blue cake in honor of the Super Bowl. Enjoy a slice with breakfast, or for a late afternoon treat with a cup of coffee. Can’t wait to try other flavors and to also treat our friends to My Grandma’s coffee cake as a special treat.
