Today is the first day of National Bible Week. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. I found out because of the CEB Tour that I am a part of. What is the CEB? Well it is the Commone English Bible which is known for being “built on common ground.” The CEB is a collaboration of 120 academic scholars and editors, 77 reading group leaders, and more than 500 verage readers from around the world who cam etogether to clearly translate the Bible’s original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek languages into the English we use today.
This is going to make reading and understanding the bible a whole lot easier but more than that it presents the bible in a way that make sense for once. Everyone has their favorite translation of the bible and I am in no way knocking any translation. However I will tell you that when I first started reading the CEB I was blown away. For the first time I actually get it. I don’t have to guess at what the meaning is. Let me give an example:
2 Timonthy 3:15-17 (King James Verison)
15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to makethee wiseunto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may beperfect, throughly furnishedunto all good works
2 Timonthy 3:15-17 (Common English Bible Verison)
15 Since childhood you have known the holy scriptures that help you be wise in a way that leds to salvation through faith htat is in Chirst Jesus. 16. Every scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing mistakes, for correcting, and for training character, 17. so that the person who belongs to God can be equipped to do everything that is good.
Doesn’t that make much more sense now? Well every week during the tour you are going to get the chance to find out for yourself. I will be giving away a softcover verison to one lucky reader. I will also be sharing verses and more fromthe CEB with you including a new verses everday leading up to Christmas.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I have always wanted to do better with my bible-reading. This sounds like it would make that a lot easier, and I need a new bible too!

I think this Bible would make a great gift for a friend of mine who loves to read different types of Bibles. Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway.

This is so ironic because I was on YouVersion this morning and once again signed up for the read the bible in a year program. I read the first 16 chapters of Genesis today. Anyway, I could carry it around in my purse, bag,etc..
