The Nativity Story

Dec 18, 2013 | Rita

I have been talking a lot about Mary, Joseph, and the birth of Jesus. We all know the story or at least the condensed version of it. We watched the movies about Jesus’ life and death. However one of my favorite movies this time of the year is The Nativity Story.

If you have never seen this movie then I would highly recommend you watch it. It tells the story of Mary and Joseph. How they met, what they went through. Most of all it tells of their journey to Bethlehem and how they struggled along the way. It shows their struggles but also those moments when they realized their love and become stronger for it.

There are a couple of scenes that I love but there is one when they are crossing the river and snakes scare the donkey throwing Mary off. The snakes are then heading straight for Mary as she is drifting away. Joseph reaches out, grabs the snakes, and throws them as hard as he can. He then grabs Mary’s hand and pulls her to him.

It is in that moment she realizes that this human man will protect her child through anything. Even if it puts himself in harm’s way. She tells her unborn child as much as she washes Joseph’s feet while he sleeps. Trust me this is a movie that will make you feel good so if you haven’t seen it then check it out today.

I have not seen of this movie, and I’m not sure if I could grab the snakes & throw them or not but I would like to think that I could, to save my children! That totally sounds like something my husband would do! Thanks for the recommendation!

I found the nativity story interesting.
I hoped they would have told more about Joseph’s point of view.
How he had no proof and what made him continue on.
That would have displayed good lessons.

I think so too. I can only imagine Joseph’s struggle with everything.
