I saw this quote from Sir Winston Churchill the other day and I thought it was simply the most perfect quote for me. In fact it is going to be my mantra for the new year. Something to remind myself to keep going when the days get tough.
Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.
He was right when he said never give in because we shouldn’t. Regardless of what we are striving for is small or petty to others because when we give in we lose a piece of ourselves.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

What an amazing quote and I love your interpretation of losing a piece of ourselves because that is exactly what happens

I HAVE to copy and print this to put on the desk or in my bedroom, the two places confined to a lot. It’s so easy to be discouraged without encouragement from others OR even a small set of words arranged in JUST the right order to make you remember. Yes, a mantra can put your mind in the right place and not allow the enemy victory. Enemy is often your self doubt and fears. I should remember, I am old enough, but sometimes life muddles your mind with too much at once and you do forget. Thanks for posting this Rita!

I think I needed to hear this right now. Thank you. Sometimes I see the whole picture–which is good because it keeps my eye on the goal but often seems far away. It’s easy to give up or give in. What I sometimes need to focus on is right now, in the next hour, the little bit I can get done to move forward.

Lots of great quotes and Churchill was a wise man. Too many times we think we are alone or things are insurmountable when if we would look around we would realize things can be overcome.
