One in a Melon Giveaway Hop

It’s the beginning of August and the last month of summer. I tell you it has been so hot around here. This giveaway hop reminds me of the summer I grew watermelons accidentally. Yes, you can grow them and not really mean to. I didn’t set out to grow any but by the end of the season I had a nice patch of them. It was so funny and my dad was not happy about it.

We had watermelon early in the season and I took the left over rinds and seeds to dispose of them. I put them all in a bowl, opened the backdoor, and tossed them out near the storage building we had at the time. I didn’t know they would do anything other than be eaten by animals.

A month or so later I happened to walking out to the building when I noticed these small ball like things growing everywhere. I hollered for my dad who came out to see what was going on. When he walked out there he asked what I did. I wasn’t sure and told him about throwing out the rinds there. That was when he realized I had started a watermelon patch.

I never took care of them in the hopes they would dive away but those things thrived. We ended up having to pick them and give them away there was so many. It was just one of those things. Now, I never throw the seeds out with the rinds. I won’t let the kids either. However every time I see a watermelon I am reminded of my patch that I grew without meaning to.

    I’d say my favorite summer ever was getting married. It was at this cute little park in Washington state.

    This summer? Honestly, I’ve been inside since early March and haven’t done anything special.

  7. One of my favorite memories is when I got to go to Hawaii to celebrate my divorce. I went all by myself and I had a blast! I wish I could go back, but I’m so glad I at least got to see it once in my life.

My family camping trips that my Dad and Mom and my Sister would do every summer when we was just kids growing up and now i look back at those time’s as my parents are too old to get around anymore and do anything like that ever again and it hurt’s my heart thinking that after I left home to go out and make a life for myself we never had another summer of camping together again.

I wish we took more camping trips, especially now that my boyz are 20 and 18 and the 18 year old is going off to college and 20 year old is working and doing his own thing.   114. Having my girls. They are both summer babes. I think it’s easier to take them out and about when they are that small when it’s warm out.

  116. My favorite summer memory is going to my aunt house on the 4th oF July. The town she lived in had a carnival, a parade and a fireworks display. It was truly the highlight of the summer.

  135. Lol, I smiled at your story as my daughter did something similar when she was 7 or 8. one of my fave summer memories was traveling abroad to celebrate my daughter’s quince party with family and friends. It was 5 months before her true birthday but we had a blast.
