Our Soap Love: Camay Soap

Aug 12, 2012 | Rita

Camay Classic 150 Gr - Camay Clasico

Many of you may not have ever heard of Camay Soap but it is common in Hispanic households. I was introduced to it a year or so ago by my sister in-law. Unlike most soaps, Camay Soaps have a more exceptional smell to them as well as the fact that they are hardworking and keep you from smelling all day.

Camay Romantic Soap

My favorite is the Camay Romantic Soap (Jabon Para El Cuerpo Romatico) which I use for those occasions that I want to feel a little sexier and smell great at the same time. It is the soap that I use when I go out with hubby or when I need to feel more in control because somehow women always feel more in control when they feel sexy about themselves.

Camay Blue Soap

Hubby really like the Camay Blue Soap (Jabon Para El Cuerpo Azul) because he says it keeps him from sweating all day and keeps his hands soft and clean. It is the soap he uses ninety percent of the time for his hand washing(he has a thing about it.) I think it is also the soap he grew up using so it is natural to him.

Camay Mystic Soap

My sister in-law loves the Camay Mystic Soap because she says it makes her feel exotic. My theory is it is more the name than the soap itself but hey to each her own. She only allows Camay soaps in her house and if you dare bring in another she will hit the roof.

Regardless which one you like I am certain you will fall in love with Camay Soap the way that we have, although I will tell you that the Romantic is the best soap ever, I don’t care what anyone else tells you.

I remember years ago both Camay and Ivory were pretty common in most households. I remember Camay, but only that it was a white bar and smelled really nice. It was on par with the beauty bars. I haven’t seen the other varieties you have here, I might have to see if they are available. Mostly I use a liquid soap, but your post brings back memories!

OH my gosh, me too! I remember copying the commercials! (my brothers and sisters had a thing about that…entertainment for 9 kids on a farm;)

I had no idea there were so many scents. I do remember using them but can’t remember the scent…I imagine it was just the “original” and smelled flowery like most soaps and perfumes did WAY back then! Now I’ll have to look for them on the shelves…although, we sort of have a favorite I dont’ stray from for the past 30 years since starting my own household and family.

I was a kid when this soap was in our bathroom. I’ve seen all those happy/ heavenly commercials of how creamy Camay can make your complexion look softer smoother. Yes I remember the cameo imprint of a lady in an oval frame and the beautiful shade of pink and the lovely floral smell and also the glossy dark pink packaging. But as a child …you don’t really care about those small luxuries. I’ve also notice that can at soap has over one thousand commercials since it came out in the late 1920s, and being world wide. It’s originally was a cameo white soap with a beige/green ..( or green and white) packaging. Through the years, Camay soap has change in size ,shape, smell and color. No it’s not the same soap we all grown up with… but the price is reasonable for three bars a pack. less then four dollars. Unilevers took over the original company …l think it was Procter and Gamble. (They use to call bars of soap cakes back then.) Never the less it’s just soap with no promises, but to clean your body for the day without irritation. And a smile.
