I have talked about various business aspects on the blog in the past including, blogging as a business. Today I want to talk with you about overcoming pitfalls as a blogger. Things are both similar and different for a blogger than a regular entrepreneur. They are similar in the respect that both are running a business and make no mistake about it blogging is a business.
A SET SCHEDULE
This is one the biggest pitfalls of a blogger. In fact, it is one of my biggest pitfalls. Since I work from home I set my own schedule and let me tell you it isn’t always easy. My brother made the comment a week or so ago that he envied me working at home because I got to use my own bathroom whenever I wanted. Since I know how much my brother enjoys his bathroom time I conceded that was a plus. I can sit in there for thirty minutes if wanted (yeah right!) I told him the downside is I can come up with fifty other things to do rather than work. One thing that you need to do (and I need to practice) is having a set schedule. Now the days and times that you will be blogging and stick to it. Leave yourself a little wiggle room for adjustments but other than that stay on schedule.

GAINING A FOLLOWING
Another pitfall of a blogger is working towards gaining a following. This is something else that I struggle with. I have struggled with this from day one and I will continue to struggle with it until the day I stop blogging I am sure. I have read every theory about how many hours i should spend on social media or how often I need to post. There are millions of “do this” or “do that” posts all over the place. I have dozen of blogging books. Each and every one of them tell you something different. I have tried every method out there and some work for a little while. Others don’t work at all or take up more time than I honestly want. I would love to tell you I have the answer and you can do something and that be it. I don’t and that is where Grace Lever comes in.
GET HELP
Grace Lever is on a mission to equip female entrepreneurs, including bloggers, with the keys to build the business we not only deserve but the one we dream of. As far as Grace is concerned failure shouldn’t be in our vocabulary, only progress should. I love that! It reminds me of my father always telling me that “Failure is not an option!” He was a military man what can I say. By being able to put us in touch with other female entrepreneurs who have the same goals as us Grace is able to help us take our business to the next level. After all, we are more likely to succeed when we have the support we need. Whether it is just advice or someone to tell what didn’t work for them. You can follow Grace on Instagram to updated on her advice and much more.

Some great tips here. I feel like the tip about keeping a schedule is very important. It helps a lot to not become overwhelmed and consumed by blogging.
