I just realized today that I would be packing for he entire family for two months away. It just sort of hit me and all I could think was “OH MY GOD!!” After all what in the world do I take with me? I don’t know what the weather will be day to day and how many bags am I going to take with me? Then I took a deep breath and sat down to plan a little bit and this is what I have come up with. First I know right off the bat that I will be attending at least 4-5 holiday dinners/events. The good news is that none of them are fancy dress so I have to do is plan a different outfit for each. I also know that I at one of these at least we will be doing pictures so I need to dress for that. The biggest dress event will be Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve which is pretty easy to dress for. Of course then there is everything that I need for work and our adventures and I will have access to a washer and dryer.
Work Needs
Packing for work was actually much easier this year than in years past. All I needed was my laptop, cord, USB, a cordless mouse (because I discovered that it’s easier with the laptop) and my tablet. I also needed to bring some bill information and stuff so I could take care of the things back home easily. I knew that was bring my camera with me for our adventures and such. I will share more with you alter about my blogger/adventure bag must haves!
Clothing Needs
This is the biggest undertaking for me! I always seem to take more than I need and I knew that I really needed to tone it down some. I would love to say that I did but all I can say is that I tried. I did manage to get my clothing down to one bag! I took three pairs of leggings, one pair of jeans, one skirt, one dress, two pairs of sweats, and an assortment of shirts. In the shoe department I am taking one pair of sneakers, a pair of flats, and some boots. My thoughts were to make sure that I could mix and match making so I could have several outfit choices. For the kids I actually place the twins an outfit a day (pants, shirt, hair ribbon if needed, etc) into a gallon size freezer bag and then pack it. This way they just have to pull out a bag and they are ready to get dressed. I also have a bag that has a nice dressy outfit in it. I will be doing laundry there and will put their clothing back into the bags each time. I was able to pack all of their clothing into one small suitcase.
In the Car Needs
We actually didn’t read need much for int he car. The kids are great about falling asleep and staying asleep. So is Ma for that matter! So really all I needed ot bring was a couple of snacks and some water which easily fit into the diaper bag. We stop for lunch and deal with any other issues as quickly as possible. So that means I don’t have to do much in tis area!
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
