Parenting Challenge: Out and About

Oct 16, 2013 | Rita

This is part of a compensated campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Huggies.  However, all opinions expressed are my own.

Heading out and about when you have babies can be difficult (I don’t mean when you are traveling but just running around doing errands and such.) If I am going out with the twins and will be out for a while I plan ahead but deciding just what I need to take with me and just what I do not need. It makes heading out with them easier and makes my errands so much more pleasant. I don’t worry about things like planning around their nap time or anything. I like when they are awake because they get to experience more.

Of course they scream a whole lot more as well but we deal with that.  Usually if I have to take the stroller I put one in the stroller and one in the carrier, then I swap them at some point. Don’t ask, I know we need a stroller for two but I rarely go anywhere alone with them.

My Car Kit

The one thing I have no matter what is my car kit. That’s right my car kit, which is something I make sure is in the car everyday. I take it out once a week and refill it then put it back. Everyone things I am crazy but trust me it means I have to carry a whole lot less with me.Some of the things in my car kits are: Huggies® Snug & Dry Diapers with NEW SureFit* Design (because they provide up to 12 hours of leakage protection, have a unique flexible waistband for all-around fit, and the all important, more conforming gap-free fit), Huggies Natural Care® Wipes with NEW Triple Clean* Layers (because they are gentle on baby’s skin and thick enough to clean the mess with their strong, soft, absorbent layers), an outfit or two each, a toy or two, a book for someone to read to them, a clean bottle each, and trash bags for well the gross stuff that tens to happen. Having this in the car means I put a total of 4 diapers in my diaper bag and maybe a bottle and paci each. I don’t have to lug a huge bag!

As you know, this is part of my partnership with Huggies Latino so you will see a few articles on me talking about how I deal with parenting challenges, babies, cryin, and who know what else. Take a look at this cute fourth webisode (in Spanish) and  feel free to leave a comment on YouTube in the comment section.don’t forget to grab a pack of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers with New SureFit Design (to avoid messy moments!) and Huggies Natural Care Wipes with New Triple Clean Layers for those “other” parenting challenges!

I think a car kit is a great idea. My husband used to do those in his car but has gotten out of the habit of doing it. We need to start this habit again.

I have a food kit packed in case I need emergency food from the car, lol, but not a kid kit! This IS a great idea, thanks.

My daughter who lives with us needs to do this. She is forever running in and out to grab stuff. Plus, you know a car kit is great for ANY ages…not just babies. Although I have 6 grandkids, I still have teens in the house. They are forever running to sports practices, church, eating on the run. Snacks, books, and YES, even wipes (Huggies) are still needed for this age and even us Grandparents. We have always kept wipes in the car, even though our “baby” of six kids is now 14. Parenting on the fun is not easy when you are not prepared. I still forget that! Thanks for the tips!

It is a great idea! One that i cannot take credit for! My father used to keep a clean uniform, blanket, and other items in the car in case he was at the base or out in the field in a snow storm. When we got older he made each of us keep the same thing in our cars just in case. It would give us something warm to wrap up in, clean dry clothes, and things like that. I got so use to it that I still do it. Plus I can’t tell you how many times I am out and about and run out of something.

The car kit is a great idea. I keep something similar in the car even though I don’t have kids anymore. It has stuff for me and my husband and the dog! I keep wipes in it and in the house and garage. They come in handy for all kinds of things. From my hands to the dog’s paws. Thanks for the ideas.
