Have you ever wondered if pharaoh actually knew Moses’ birthright? In the bible his daughter draws Moses from the Nile knowing he was Hebrew.
There is also mention that her husband has died. There is no mention of her being pregnant or any other child. She sees Moses as a gift from God or her Gods and raises him as her own. I wonder how that could have been possible in a day when women were not the most highly regarded and they usually did what they were told. If he didn’t know did her brother who became pharaoh after their father. He loved Moses as much as his sister did. He forbade anyone to speak the name of Moses but didn’t want him hurt in any way. If they could love a Hebrew child, feel compassion for a Hebrew then why could they not free the slaves? They could have at any time years before Moses came of age. Years before anything else happened. I know that was not in God’s plan but sometimes you just have to wonder.
They spent all of those years loving Moses and I suspect knowing who he really was. Yet they didn’t see him as anything more than a son, a Prince of Egypt. What about the slaves of Egypt? Did they wonder where the child came from. I mean the pharaoh’s daughter suddenly had a child when she didn’t before. When Moses was finally told did he think that now he knew why he maybe always felt different? Did it explain everything?
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I think they knew from the beginning. I think it’s like when you adopt a child. Once you open your heart to that child they become yours. I think it was a matter of knowing but not letting it stop the love they had for Moses. I think it shows us that we can do mny thins in the name of love.

We can! Love makes us do things we never thought we would.

Logic says they would have had to know. But the heart can lie and the eyes will see what they want to, especially with someone you love.

The heart can heart and make us see the things we want to see. I wonder if they thought it would be the ultimate domination to raise a Hebrew and make him the Prince of Egypt.

It is confusing, like you said how could he not know what was going in, I believe that maybe he loved his sister so much and that he wanted her to be happy so he allowed it.

I never really thought about these questions. You do have to wonder how everyone could not know. Like others have said love can make you do surprising things. Then again when God is at work anything is possible even what seems impossible. God was definitely at work in Moses’ life.

I think they knew and they protected him. On a unrelated side note– the picture reminds me of my childhood so much. I had a book of Bible stories and I distinctly remember this picture being in there. It was like having my own Bible (albeit a kids’ one) and I was very happy to have it. I think I still have it at my mom’s house.

And weirdly enough, I just looked the book up and apparently it was a Jehovah’s Witness book. I don’t know where I got it from, but I do know that as a child I found it very interesting and it made me more interested in my actual Bible, which I think is a good thing.
