Picmonkey Free Alternative – Fotor

Oct 16, 2017 | Rita

How many of you enjoy photo editing or making collages and such? I bet many of you have used or at least heard of PicMonkey. I have used them for a while off and on. However I recently discovered that they are no longer free. Wait, what? That’s right they are not free.  But they have a free user account. They do and you can use the tools but don’t try to save, export, or share your work. Well that just blows completely doesn’t it? IT does if you are like me and actually didn’t know this until you tried to use it. I tend to stick with my same editing tools but occasionally I like to use a different. Typically because it has a feature that I want for a particular shot. I learned my lesson though. I use Fotor any time I want to use a free program that allows me to do the basics.

You know like a need a quick image resize or maybe I want to create a graphic. There are plenty of times when I am in an hurry and need an image resized quickly without having to open another program. This happens a lot when I am traveling and don’t have all of the same programs on my laptop that I have on my desktop. it is times like this that I use Fotor the most. I can do all of my graphics in there while on the go and keep my laptop light. I hate bogging it down with programs since I don’t use it as often as I do my desktop.

With Fotor you have plenty of preset sizes to choose from. I love this and use it to make Facebook cover photos and such. I don’t have to worry about getting the size right and it helps makes things get done much quicker. Especially when the various social media sites changes their sizes all the time. I don’t have to worry about getting it right.

While you may not need Fotor for work, like me, I’m sure you will love it for the social media covers! As you can see in the image above they have more than enough templates for you to choose from. You can use the template the way it is or add your own flair to it. You can also upload you own images like I did above. All I did was add the image and then drag it until it fit in the rectangle. An easy peasy cover! there are also many different photo effects for you to choose from to make your image really pop.

One of the best things about Fotor is that I can use all of the features as well as save my work. I use them often for simply quote graphics and such. I can take a basic graphic that I have set up like you see above for Lenore and then just change the wording anytime needed. She uses these for her Instagram. Everything is there and ready when she gives me the quotes that she wants to use for the next month. It takes me like five minutes to get them all done and then back to her. In fact her and I have been working on a Halloween design for a while. I am certain that what we put together in Fotor will really make her event special. I could not believe that well it turned out. Alas I can’t show it to you because it is a surprise for those who received her invites. Sorry! That is another thing to love about Fotor, they have plenty of Halloween designs or any other holiday that you can think of.

Fotor makes my job so much easier. I can use it from any computer, all I have to do is log into my account and get to work. That is one of the biggest features I love about it. I like to travel but still have work to get done. I can do both when the mood strikes and not have to worry about how I am going to get the images or graphics I need done.

My friend had told me about picmonkey but I haven’t tried it yet. Fotor may be a better and cheaper option for me.
