Since my parents got Expert Satellite we decided to spend a week of our vacation home at time visiting them. My husband works and we are not able to go home for Christmas of Thanksgiving. The week has been really relaxing. We have been hanging out at the house, cooking dinner, and spending time together. Today it rained and we decided to stay in. We all curled up on the sofas and did a movie marathon. We watched two movies. The first movie I had never seen and was surprised at what an All-Star cast that the film had. The movie we watched was “Platoon” starring the one and only Charlie Sheen. Now that I think about it, I think that it was his break out role in the nineteen eighties. It ended up being a gory movie filled with lots of profanity, but it was a great movie. When I read the credits, the movie won an Oscar. It was set in Vietnam and gives a good depiction of how difficult it was for the American troops to fight the war in the jungles of Vietnam and Cambodia.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I never heard of that movie. I am not into grory movies so I probably won’t be watching it. It sounds like you had a good time.

I have seen it and according to a few Vets I know it is ‘kind of’ accurate. I liked Sheen in that one.

Love rainy movie days 🙂 We’re big movie fans (but we always wait until after it comes out on DVD ha!) and yes that was Charlie Sheen’s big break.

I have never seen the movie Platoon, probably a good one to check out – Charlie Sheen, when he was appealing!

I really enjoyed Platoon, as well. It’s funny to look back on those movies and see things you never noticed before because of our higher quality televisions. I recently did that with the original Predator movie and it was so funny to me to see how unrealistic the laser beams looked!
